As Brides Live Wedding quickly approaches, we're getting more and more excited to see what Brooke Keegan has in store. Here's another fabulous wedding courtesy of the Newport Beach-based wedding planner.
Amanda and Matt's romance started with an adventure. "When we were freshmen in college, a group of us all decided to hike the Grand Canyon," remembers Amanda. "So we drove six hours from Los Angeles, spent 12 hours hiking in and out of the Canyon, and then drove back. We got to know each other and had so much fun, and our relationship budded from that."
In January 2013, Matt surprised Amanda with a proposal that featured a serenade (complete with customized song verses!), roses, and candles. "It was so shocking and romantic," says Amanda. The couple chose a date a mere five months later, on May 26th, 2013, and tapped Keegan to bring it to life. Marisa Holmes captured all of the details. Take a peek!
The cream-and-gold invitations, programs, and table numbers featured elegant script and subtle metallic details.
Amanda kept her accessories, hair, and makeup simple and sweet, matching the warm tones of the wedding. She wore gold glittering Jimmy Choo wedges, perfect for the outdoor ceremony, and pulled her hair back with soft twists.
The bride chose a strapless, drop-waisted Jenny Lee gown with a ruffled skirt covered in rosettes. "I hadn't tried anything like it on, but when Jenny Lee pulled it into the fitting room, I knew it was the one for me," says Amanda. The bride customized her look by adding lace to the flowers on the skirt and using the same lace to edge her veil. "It was breezy on the coast that day," says Amanda, "which gave the veil such a dramatic feel!"
Amanda's bouquet of blush-and-cream peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, and stephanotis was wrapped in ivory ribbon. The gold hummingbird pin had belonged to Matt's late grandmother, who gave the pin to Amanda as a gift.
Amanda's bridesmaids carried white-and-cream bouquets of ranunculus and roses.
The bridesmaids wore blush chiffon halter gowns, perfect for the ceremony's soft breeze, and complemented their gowns with elegant up-dos.
Matt wore a classic tuxedo with a white tie and white vest. His groomsmen donned pale gold vests and ties for a hint of shine. "Matt's rule was that the men not wear any pink," says Amanda, so the groom and his groomsmen's boutonnieres featured a single white ranunculus.
"We really loved the grandiose Italian architecture and manicured lawns of The Resort at Pelican Hill," says Amanda. The formal venue inspired the couple's formal dress code.
The ceremony took place under a rotunda that offered guests panoramic views of the ocean.
Instead of a runner, the aisle was decorated with an intricate pattern made of blush-and-cream rose petals.
The altar and end of the aisle were flanked with tall arrangements of roses and peonies. Along the aisle, chairs were tied with nosegays of pink peonies.
Amanda walked down the aisle with her father as a string quartet played "Canon in D." During the ceremony, Matt and Amanda had a sand ceremony, where they layered three colors of sand to symbolize their union. The recessional was to an instrumental version of "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional, one of the songs Matt sang to Amanda when he proposed.
The formal reception took place in the Mar Vista Ballroom. "The room is so beautiful and warm on its own, so we didn't have to add much," says Amanda. Simple arrangements of pink-and-white ranunculus, garden roses, and peonies were mixed with glass candelabras and lots of warm candlelight.
Low arrangements of pink-and-white peonies and roses topped the tables. Each guest received a box of toffee at their seat. Matt and Amanda's chairs were decorated with "bride" and "groom" signs and overblown pink peonies.
The couple's five-tiered wedding cake featured layers of strawberry shortcake with sliced strawberries and buttercream frosting. Fondant rosettes matched the flowers on Amanda's gown. The cake was topped with a cascade of fresh peonies, garden roses, and dahlias.
Matt and Amanda's first dance was to "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys. "Our DJ gave the reception such great energy," says Amanda. "It was so incredible to have all of our favorite people with us and to celebrate the start of our lives together."
