Congratulations are in order for Claire Danes and husband Hugh Dancy, who welcomed a baby boy.
The couple’s second son was born on Monday, August 27, 2018, joining older brother Cyrus, age 5 at the time, in the Danes/Dancy’s growing family, The Associated Press reports.
The Homeland star announced her pregnancy during an April 2018 recording of Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show, noting that it was something she and Dancy had been hoping for. “I am pregnant. I’m seriously preggo," the then-39-year-old revealed. "I’m deep into my second trimester."
“Yeah, this was planned,” she continued. “We’ve been wanting another kid for a while, and it happened.”
Danes and Darcy met while filming Evening in Rhode Island in 2007, and wed in 2009 in a quiet ceremony in France. Three years later, they welcomed Cyrus into their brood.
“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now,” she said shortly after his birth. “When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it... I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus... that I wanted to act.”
While she worked up until the final weeks of her first pregnancy, this time around she took a bit of time off. “It feels like a huge luxury,” she told People in June 2018, joking that while she wasn't having any particular pregnancy cravings, she was happily indulging in "all the food." “When I was pregnant with my first son [Cyrus Michael Christopher, 5], I worked until I was in my eighth month, so this feels like a huge gift, to have a chance to kick my feet up a little bit.”
