Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have probably shared thousands and thousands of kisses throughout their 10-year relationship—but their most recent public smooch just might be their most epic one ever. During a taping of this week's episode of Lip Sync Battle, the Spike TV show that Teigen hosts, the couple re-created the iconic upside-down kiss from the 2002 movie Spider-Man. And luckily for fans of the couple, the moment made it to air, meaning we can relive the romance on repeat all afternoon.
In the original superhero flick, Mary Jane, played by Kirsten Dunst, happens upon an upside-down, masked Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire), who just so happens to be her childhood friend/secret admirer Peter Parker, in a rainy alleyway. After some flirty banter, Mary Jane inches Spidey's mask down to reveal just his mouth, and the two lock lips in an absolutely iconic movie kiss.
But Teigen and Legend are no ordinary couple. For their kiss, Teigen was the one to don a Spider-Man costume. She descended from the sky to rapturous applause from the live audience. After her co-host LL Cool J removed the model's Spidey mask, she told the crowd, "I just wanted to see if it's possible that I live out one of my biggest fantasies." LL Cool J replied, "Oh, you want that super fantasy? Oh, OK!" Right on cue, Legend sauntered onstage, and the husband and wife went in for a smooch. Teigen later shared the clip on Twitter, captioning it "Yes, I do my own stunts." Swoon.
The episode of Lip Sync Battle aired on Spike TV just before the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night. (Both Spike TV and MTV are owned by Viacom.) The timing of this Spider-Man kiss re-creation was utterly appropriate, considering Dunst and Maguire took home the 2003 MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
