The star of this season's The Bachelor, Chris "Prince Farming" Soules, has found a wife! After a long, emotional season filled with many trips to his cornfield-ridden state of Iowa, surprisingly deep heart-to-hearts with Becca, and his high-pitched "dolphin" laugh, Chris finally got down on one knee and popped the question to the contestant whom many accurately predicted would win the final rose, Whitney. Though that one part was seemingly set in stone weeks ago, last night's finale and After the Final Rose special were filled with other amusing, if not surprising, moments. Here, a few of our favorites:
Whitney's Perfect First Impression
The Chicago-based fertility nurse who loves saying that she and Chris "made a baby" on her hometown date won over his entire family almost immediately. Not that that was terribly shocking — perky, spunky, and preternaturally outgoing, she's probably used to hugging strangers within minutes. Still, we couldn't help but be taken aback when Chris's sisters told her they were going to miss her after she left. At this point, we could tell she had this thing in the bag.
Becca's Impromptu Therapy Session
It's always a little awkward, if not somewhat entertaining, to see Bachelors and Bachelorettes trot out not one, but two, potential spouses to their families within days of each other on every season finale. But Becca's introduction to the Soules family had much higher emotional stakes than we were expecting. Chris was nervous to introduce the more-reserved contestant after hearing Whitney's glowing reviews, but Becca did make a good, if not subtle, impression. When Chris's mom sat down with her to discuss her feelings for her son, the one-on-one turned into a legitimate therapy session, with plenty of tears and "What does your gut tell you?" moments. Kudos to mama Soules for keeping it real.
Neil Lane's Trip to Iowa
The jeweler has been the go-to engagement ring provider for Bachelor nation for countless seasons now, but last night's episode seemed like a first. Usually, the finale takes place in an exotic locale like Bali, Thailand, or Curacao. The farmer, however, appropriately proposed in the same barn where he'd raised his first pig. Seeing Lane arrive in Dubuque, Iowa, with a suitcase full of rings in tow was sweet, if not kind of hilarious.
Whitney and Becca's Coordinating Long-Sleeved Dresses
There's not much to say here other than we loved their gowns. Whitney became the future Mrs. Soules in a black, off the shoulder number, while Becca went home in the reject limo in a dark red velvet dress. They both looked like winners, in our opinion.
The Tale of the Two Bachelorettes
After the Final Rose was free of drama, aside from the much-touted "Biggest Announcement in After the Final Rose History" which did live up to much of the hype. We truly didn't see the Britt vs. Kaitlyn season coming, but now we're looking forward to the May 18 premiere more than ever.
