Accepting the award for Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor at the Teen Choice Awards, Pratt took the stage and told a story about lying to make his way in the industry. The only people he really thanked in his speech were James Gunn, writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy, and God, saying, "I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ." There was no mention of Faris or their son, Jack, which we imagine was an intentional choice.
Also, Pratt was notably not wearing his wedding ring. He and Faris, who were married for eight years, announced their separation just days ago via social media, writing, "We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried really hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep the situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together."
Though, there is a kernel of hope for this sad situation. Family friend and Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger said the two actors are still living together through the separation. "OK, so this is really hard because I'm close to them," she previously told Entertainment Tonight. "I'm upset about it. The day it happened I actually texted them. I don't know what happened there. [Chris] is still living in the house. Let's pray it turns around." She continued, "I want them to get back together. So I'm not fixin' them up.
I would just be the counselor between them and go, 'What really is the issue here?' Because she's living in the house, so someone threw out the curveball. If [Pratt's] still in the house, there's hope. If the person doesn't leave the house, there's a lot of hope there. That means they still love each other. Because they're not poor...they could go get a condo, Airbnb it. It's just that they don't want to leave each other. There's a lot of best-friend factor there. They're very close as BFFs."
