If you needed another reason to love the Hemsworth brothers and Margot Robbie, here it is: The Australian-born actors recently showed support for marriage equality and are encouraging other Aussies to do the same.
As the country prepares to vote on a bill to pass marriage equality, the influential Australian voices of Hollywood are stepping in to try to make a difference in their home country.
The youngest Hemsworth brother showed his support for the bill this week in a post on social media.
"I personally do not believe that same sex marriage should come down to a vote. I believe it's a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender," Hemsworth wrote. "To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same sex marriage. Let's not be silly about this. Vote YES for same sex marriage in Australia." The 27-year-old Australian actor and Hunger Games star posted in a caption on his Instagram on Tuesday.
Chris Hemsworth also encouraged his fellow Australians to "check and update" their electoral details and "vote 'Yes' for marriage equality." The 34-year-old Thor star wrote in his caption, "Dear open minded, free speaking, laid back, life loving Aussies. Marriage is about love and commitment and, in a country based on equal citizenship, it should be available to everyone! Vote now for marriage equality.”
Suicide Squad star Robbie also posted her own message to her Instagram account, sharing a selfie and captioning the image, "Aussie’s living overseas like me, register to vote here: http://www.aec.gov.au/enrol/ before August 24th #marriageequality #australia.”
Australians had until August 24 to register to enroll in the postal survey, and following their registration, they will be sent ballots on September 12. The ballots need to be submitted between October 27 and November 7 to count toward the vote. The results of the election will be revealed November 15.
Hemsworth married Spanish model Elsa Pataky in 2010 and is the father to two daughters, Sasha and India Rose, and a son, Tristan. Robbie married British film director Tom Ackerley last year. Both actors currently live in the U.S.
Keep being amazing role models, you guys!
