The Fixer Upper team is about to gain an extra pair of helping hands. During Tuesday night’s new episode of their popular HGTV show, Chip and Joanna Gaines revealed that they’re currently expecting their fifth child.
Chip started teasing the big news on social media as soon as the episode began. "Everyone tune in now for tonight’s #FixerUpper! We’ve got some BIG news to share.. hint #1," he tweeted, along with a video in which he and Joanna discuss her previous pregnancy cravings of pickles and ice cream, before showing several clips in which he chants, "Number five! Number five!" A little later, after "hint #2" appeared in the actual episode, Chip spilled the beans. "Hint #3 You might recall a few months back.. the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco. And they put on a little too romantic of a concert.. anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber," he tweeted.
Later Tuesday night, things got even more adorable when Chip shared a sweet photo on Instagram in which he sticks out his stomach to match Joanna’s baby bump. "Gaines party of 7.. (If you’re still confused.. WE ARE PREGNANT)," he captioned the pic. Joanna also took to Instagram to celebrate the big news. On Wednesday morning, she posted a video from a recent ultrasound, showing the baby’s heart beating. "Chip swears he can already tell it’s a boy. Look at the little heartbeat!! 🙌🏽❤️❤️ #5" she captioned the clip.
Chip, 43, and Joanna, 39, who were married in March 2003, are already parents to 12-year-old Drake, 11-year-old Ella, 9-year-old Duke, and 7-year-old Emmie Kay. In recent months, after announcing that Fixer Upper will end after the current season, Chip and Joanna have both spoken about wanting to expand and spend time with their family. "I would love another baby—or twins!" Joanna told People in June. And in an October interview with Houston's ABC13 station, Chip appeared to agree with his wife. "We had four babies right before the show started, and then we’ve had zero babies since the show started. For me, I’m really excited to go back and try to maybe…try to make some more babies," he said.
