We apologize in advance for interrupting your day to bring you this heartbreaking news: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are separating. After nearly nine years of marriage together, the two have decided to call it quits. The former couple released a joint statement to People earlier this evening, explaining their choice to move on with their lives separately.
âHey world!" The couple wrote. "SoâŠWe have something we would like to share. First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but itâs a consequence of the lives weâve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. Weâre living in an incredible moment in time, but itâs also a time where truth can easily get distorted into âalternative factsâ đ So we want to share the truth so you know that if you didnât read it here then itâs most certainly fiction."
They continued, "We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decisionâjust two best-friends realizing itâs time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We wonât be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our familyâs privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna.â

The two actors met in 2006 on the set of the movie Step Up, and dated until they married in 2009. The two share one child together, a daughter named Everly, who will turn five next month. The two celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary in July, which they kept low key and private.
The couple most recently attended the Kidsâ Choice Awards together just last week to promote Tatum's new movie Smallfoot. But the two have been open about their relationship struggles. In February, Jenna spoke to Health about people's perception of her and Channing's âperfect life," which she said is a lot of hard work.
âWhen people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no oneâs perfect,â she said. âI think there are such things as great fits. It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point weâve really grown together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa.â
We wish all the best to Channing and Jenna and hope that things work out for them, but in the meantime, we'll be crying ourselves to sleep.
