Red carpet events and movie premieres aren't the only parties celebrities score invites to. Save-the-dates and wedding invitations are also delivered to the Hollywood mailboxes of celebs. And just like us normie wedding guests, these A-listers have to figure out what the hell to wear! It's always oddly thrilling to see celebrities acting as bridesmaids and groomsmen, playing second fiddle for once, rather than stealing the spotlight. But choosing an outfit that's fabulous enough to wear to watch their besties say "I do" seems to come easy to these style stars.
We already look to celebrity brides for wedding dress inspiration (ahem, Kate Middleton's long lace sleeves), so why shouldn't we do the same with wedding guest looks? After all, whether it's Emily Blunt at the high-profile nuptials of George and Amal Clooney, or Kim Kardashian at the I-dos of a swanky club owner, these famous wedding guests always serve up serious style inspo. The Duchess of Cambridge herself even proved that she can look wedding-ready when she's not the one walking down the aisle. Then again, A-listers aren't exactly your average wedding guests, unless the average attendee sports custom Stella McCartney gowns, gets made up by a Hollywood-approved hair and makeup team, and, you know, casually attends royal weddings. They may not actually be just like us, but they do still make for great sartorial inspo.
Below, 42 fiercely fashion-forward outfits your favorite celebrities wore to the weddings of their famous friends.
Nicky Hilton Rothschild
It goes without saying that Nicky Rothschild, née Hilton, would show up at her sister's wedding dressed to impress. Donning a lace Alice and Olivia column dress complete with feminine frills and a satin bow sash, the maid of honor assumed her position amongst the blush-hued bridal party on November 11, 2021.
Kim Kardashian celebrated Paris Hilton's autumnal nuptials dressed in black—a sartorial theme that seems to have been shared amongst several guests including Emma Roberts and Nicole Richie. The cut-out Rick Owens gown was paired with graphic eyeliner and witchy pointed-toe boots that were perfect for the season.
Amongst a sea of chic wedding guests in black, Kendall Jenner stood out in bond-girl gold at Simon Huck and Phil Riportella's November 2021 star-studded nuptials. The sexy Donna Karan number showed off ample amounts of skin with a plunging neckline and sky-high slit.
Lady Kitty Spencer
Lady Kitty Spencer attended the Huck-Riportella wedding covered in liquid gold. The sumptuously gilded Dolce & Gabbana dress couldn't be more appropriate for the Fall fête.
Kardashian also surprisingly shunned the black-dress protocol, opting for a far more vibrant approach. The striking royal blue Balenciaga suit descended into pointed-toe sock boots and featured a dramatic train.
Hailey Bieber, née Baldwin, was dressed to kill while attending Felisha King Harvey and Bernard Harvey's wedding in April 2021. The body-skimming LBD by AZ Factory is giving us all kinds of sophisticated minimalist vibes.
Gigi and Bella Hadid
The supermodel sisters served as each other's dates to Marc Jacobs's wedding to Char Defrancesco in April 2019. Both donned sleek pantsuits: Bella's black, over a black corset top and lacy Louboutin pumps, and Gigi's olive green, over a sheer L'AGENCE blouse and a Youssef Lahlou wide-brimmed hat.
The 2019 nuptials seemed to be a runway for smart suiting, with Kaia Gerber arriving in a more oversized take. The model served all the 80's glamour vibes with a wool wide-legged trouser and blazer combination designed by Jacobs himself.
Leave it to Emrata to turn up the heat. The model-turned-entrepreneur makes a serious case for yellow in the Saks Potts satin dress with a deep plunging neckline she wore to the Jacobs-Defrancesco fête.
Kendall Jenner showed off her supermodel bod in a strappy, retro-esque dress for Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber's September 2019 nuptials. The body-hugging velveteen dress cascades in a cool gold hue perfect for the rich autumnal aesthetic.
Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson
After keeping their rumored relationship mostly under wraps for a year, Delevingne and Benson made a low-key joint appearance at the June 2019 wedding festivities for Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman in Paris. For the rehearsal dinner, Delevingne wore a shiny black and gold pantsuit over a black bra top, while Benson donned a light brown, one-shouldered leather minidress.
Kravitz's Big Little Lies co-stars were also in attendance for her Parisian nuptials. For the rehearsal dinner, Witherspoon opted for the perfect dress for a summer wedding: The printed Saloni dress just evokes all the happy feels.
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's (many) wedding receptions in India in December 2018 called for numerous outfit changes for both the newlyweds and their guests. Sophie Turner celebrated her new in-laws wearing a gorgeous gold and peach-colored lehenga by Sabyasachi, the same designer responsible for the striking scarlet lehenga Chopra wore at one of the ceremonies.
When the model and actress showed up at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's October 2018 nuptials in a sleek black Armani tux and matching top hat, sticklers for royal etiquette were appalled. But it's all good: Shortly after, Delevingne revealed that she'd gotten permission from the princess herself to break the dress code and wear the dapper suit.
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West
When Kimye attended 2 Chainz's wedding to Kesha Ward in August 2018, they went for an understated look—if "understated" equals a blinding neon green latex Versace dress and mirrored sunglasses for Kim and a pale green Louis Vuitton suit and Yeezy slides over gray socks for Kanye. If Kanye says socks with sandals are wedding-appropriate, it must be so.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
At Amal and George Clooney's gorgeous Italian wedding, the guest list was obviously star-studded. Celebs like Matt Damon, Bono, Anna Wintour, and Bill Murray all jetted off to Venice for the nuptials. But it was Emily Blunt who scored a gold style star with her turquoise Emilio Pucci column dress. (John Krasinski cleaned up well, too, but his classic tux could hardly match up to his wife's stunning gown.)
The younger Middleton sister all but stole the show at big sister Kate's royal wedding in April 2011. As maid of honor, Pippa coordinated with the bride in a crisp white floor-length gown with a plunging scoop neckline, custom designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, also the mastermind behind Kate's dress.
Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte
The Duchess of Cambridge went a bit more low-key when it was her turn to attend her sister's wedding: At Pippa's nuptials to James Matthews in May 2017, Kate tapped Alexander McQueen yet again, this time for a drapey, long-sleeved midi-length gown in a dusty rose shade that perfectly matched the sash around tiny bridesmaid Princess Charlotte's waist.
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West
The Miami nuptials of club owner Dave Grutman and his love, Isabela Rangel, gleaned an extra dose of glam when the Kardashian-West duo rolled up to the scene. West kept things classic in a handsome black suit, while Kardashian donned a sultry black dress that certainly wasn't short on the cleavage or curve-hugging sex appeal.
Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson
Kris Jenner may have officiated the nuptials of Colton Haynes and Jeff Leatham, but the officiant wasn't the only celeb in the room. Modern Family stars Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson partied it up at the couple's reception, with Vergara looking super chic in her all-black ensemble that featured a shiny cropped corset and a skirt made for dancing.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen glammed it up as guests at the posh wedding of fashion blogger Colby Johnson and art collector Alberto Mugrabi in the South of France. The fashion-designer twins respectively rocked an off-the-shoulder midi dress with a large white lapel and an intricately-embellished dark green gown for the occasion.
At the same extravagant event, model Karlie Kloss stunned in a beige lace number.
Iris Van Berne, Melissa Tammerijn and Madison Headrick
Victoria's Secret Angel Vita Sidorkina had a heavenly guest list when she wed Italian millionaire Valerio Morabito, and her fashion-girl guests looked just too cool. Dutch models Iris Van Berne and Melissa Tammerijn and U.S. model Madison Headrick wore sexy slip gowns and flower crowns.
Victoria Beckham pulled double wedding duty at the nuptials of her bestie Eva Longoria. Beckham not only designed the bride's flawlessly fitted wedding dress, but she also took over the dance floor with her hubby at the reception. And of course, Beckham did it all while looking effortlessly elegant in her navy blue strapless gown.
Holy shoulders! The heavily embellished bodice of the frock Chrissy Teigen rocked to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's elaborate wedding weekend had glam gladiator vibes emblazoned all over it.
At the wedding of her friend and stylist, Rihanna needed an outfit fly enough to impress the fashion-pro bride. No sweat! Rhianna chose a lilac, silk kimono wrap dress with orange lotus flowers that matched her hair color dujour.
Beyoncé and Blue Ivy
Only Beyoncé can get away with wearing white to a wedding! Queen Bey, in a cream and gold-trimmed wrap dress, and her dancing partner (Blue Ivy, of course) twirled around the reception dance floor at the celebration.
Aca-awesome! Rebel Wilson was beautiful in blush at the wedding of her Pitch Perfect co-stars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez
Before they were engaged, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez attended a wedding together in New York City. J.Lo slayed in a formfitting teal gown that featured a plunging neckline and high collar, and completed the look with her signature hoops.
Cue Hilary Duff's "Coming Clean!" Lauren Conrad attended the wedding of her former Laguna Beach co-star Dieter Schmitz wearing a simple, pale pink slip dress.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé
The dress code for Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson's November 2014 wedding stood in firm opposition to traditional etiquette: Every guest was dressed in all-white, including the bride's older sister Beyoncé and brother-in-law Jay-Z, who somehow avoided tarnishing their crisp white getups while dancing up a storm at the New Orleans bash.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian
The guest list for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding in May 2018 was the perfect blend of members of the extended British royal family and American celebrities from Meghan's tenure as a Hollywood star. Sports royalty Serena Williams, a close friend of the duchess, made the cut, and showed up alongside husband Alexis Ohanian in an elegant, blush Versace dress with matching sculptural fascinator.
Amal and George Clooney
Also on that exclusive royal wedding guest list were the Clooneys. George donned a light gray Giorgio Armani suit, allowing his wife to steal the show in her custom-designed canary yellow Stella McCartney sheath dress. McCartney was kind enough to recreate the gorgeous gown for the masses not long after it made headlines but, alas, it has long since sold out.
Victoria and David Beckham
The Clooneys weren't the only power couple in the pews at Meghan and Harry's wedding. The Beckhams also made their way to the celebration, with the artist formerly known as Posh Spice wearing a navy blue ankle-length gown from her own collection (which, obviously, also sold out not long after she made it available to the public) and Becks in a dapper charcoal suit from Dior Homme.
Another royal wedding guest, actress Priyanka Chopra wore a lavender made-to-measure suit by Viviene Westwood. As a close friend of the duchess, it's no surprise she flew across the pond for the big day!
Game of Thrones fans desperate for an update on the show ahead of its final season were undoubtedly delighted to see the cast reunite at Kit Harington and Rose Leslie's Scottish nuptials in June 2018. Among the stars in attendance was the Khaleesi herself, Emilia Clarke, who arrived solo, in a nude Dior dress embossed with leafy stripes, which she paired with a Mansur Gavriel linen duster coat and slingback Dior heels.
Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams
For their onscreen brother's wedding, Game of Thrones co-stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams arrived at the venue together wearing coordinating looks.
Katy Perry opted for a watercolor dress, pink headband, and pastel blue coat when singer Ellie Goulding wed Caspar Jopling. The best accessory? Her fiancé Orlando Bloom on her arm!
When Meghan Markle attended the wedding of her fashion designer BFF and matchmaker Misha Nonoo, she arrived wearing a sheer black Valentino gown. Like anything the duchess wears, the stunning dress was quickly sold out online.
Kaia Gerber and Pete Davidson
Shortly after making their relationship official, Kaia Gerber and Pete Davidson attended a friend's winter wedding in Miami together. The model wore a navy blue polka-dot dress from Reformation while Davidson went with a suit and no tie.
Well, the marriage didn't last and neither did this friendship, but the crimson-hued velvet gown Brooke Shields wore to the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will forever live on in our sartorial dreams. The depth of color paired with that dreamy mix of wintry textures is simply exquisite.
