The results are in and Carrie Underwood is expecting a...drum roll, please..."Willie." Which, in case you didn't tune in to the Country Music Awards Wednesday night, means it's a boy!
The country singer, who announced her second pregnancy with husband Mike Fisher in August, spilled the beans on her baby's sex while cohosting the CMA Awards with Brad Paisley. And, ironically, this isn't the first time Paisley has coaxed baby info out of her at the annual event. During Underwood's first pregnancy in 2014, Paisley suggested on-stage that she name her newborn "Garth" (inspired by country singer Garth Brooks), unintentionally revealing the child's sex.
Given last night's similar circumstances, the country music pair naturally took the opportunity to poke fun at Paisley's former spill. "Hey, remember last time when I accidentally revealed the gender of your baby?" he joked.
Underwood, clad in a bright pink jacket with a black top and pants, retorted with, "I mean, who could ever forget #BradBlewIt?" citing the infamous hashtag that ensued from the situation.
Not skipping a beat, Paisley continued to prod the "Before He Cheats" singer. "Seriously Carrie, give me a little baby hint? Johnny or June? Keith or Nicole. Garth or Trisha. Tim or Faith. George or Tammy. Waylon or Willie?" he pleaded, citing famous country duos.
"What? That doesn’t even make sense," Underwood replied, confused by the last example, which referenced two male country singer friends—Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.
She finally caved after a bit more nudging from her information-inducing cohost. "Oh my gosh...Willie. It's a Willie, ok!?" she admitted. There you have it, folks—Underwood's three-year-old son, Isaiah, will soon have a new baby brother.
In an effort to clear his rep, Paisley declared, "Hashtag #CarrieBlewIt!" Get it trending.
Country fans have been speculating on the 35-year-old's second child's sex since news of her pregnancy broke, but predictions pointed toward a baby girl, namely due to Underwood's clothing choices. In Underwood's Instagram pregnancy reveal, the star sported a shiny pink jacket, then later donned a a blush Ted Baker dress shortly after breaking the news. Now, thanks once more to Brad Paisley, we officially know that Underwood's hot pink ensemble from last night was merely coincidence.
