This month's New York Fashion Week marked designer Carolina Herrera's final runway bow for her eponymous brand. Earlier this month the designer announced that she would step down as Creative Director of Carolina Herrera and hand the reigns over to Wes Gordon. While Gordon's been consulting with Herrera for a few seasons—his work can be seen in her last two wedding dress collections—we can't help but get nostalgic for Mrs. Herrera's crisp silhouettes, full skirts, and classic tailoring. From, Caroline Kennedy to Jessica Simpson and even Bella Swan (fictional characters definitely count!), we're looking back at 5 iconic brides who wore Carolina Herrera wedding dresses.
This was the bride that started it all for Carolina Herrera. When Caroline Kennedy got engaged in 1986, her mother sent her to see her good friend Carolina Herrera. "As mothers of the brides go, Jackie was the best there ever was," Mrs. Herrera told Brides. "She let Caroline decide exactly what she wanted and never got involved in any of the design decisions. Jackie didn't see the dress until it was delivered to Hyannis Port for the wedding." The gown seen round the world (it was on the cover of Life), which Mrs. Herrera had embellished with tiny shamrocks in honor of the Kennedys' Irish heritage, catapulted the designer to bridal stardom.
A year later, she launched her first full collection of wedding dresses.
For her second stroll down the aisle, Jessica Simpson embraced her inner-princess. "Everybody thought I was going to wear a dress that completely showed off my new bod' Simpson told People, 'But I can't help but want a princess dress! I'm a Southern girl at heart. I like everything big!" Simpson's gold embroidered strapless Carolina Herrera gown stole the show at her 2014 wedding to Eric Johnson.

Kate Middleton's wasn't the only highly-anticipated wedding dress of 2011. For her wedding to Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Twilight's Bella Swan took inspiration from her fiancée's own decade—the 1920s. The romantic custom creation by Herrera, featured Chantilly lace embellishments and a gorgeous sheer illusion back—made even more amazing by its 152 delicate buttons.
When she married husband Johannes Huebl in an intimate ceremony in Bedford, New York in June 2014, Olivia Palermo wore a custom-made Carolina Herrera ensemble, which featured a sweater, shorts, and tulle overskirt. "Getting ready for a special event, like your wedding day, you have to feel like yourself and dress for your environment," Olivia tells the New York Post of her bridal outfit. "I really wanted to dress like me."
When she said "I do" to Rent costar Aaron Lohr, Idina Menzel wore Carolina Herrera's "Felicity" gown. The off-the-shoulder, all-over lace creation featuring flounced sleeves, was part of Herrera's Spring 2018 bridal collection.
Shameless star Emmy Rossum was as classic a bride as they come when she married Mr. Robot creator, Sam Esmail. Rossum had no doubt she wanted a Carolina Herrera creation as soon as she said yes. “As soon as I got engaged, I immediately knew that I wanted Mrs. Herrera to make my wedding dress,” Rossum told Vogue. “It was Mrs. Herrera’s idea to make it quite modern and fresh, and kind of use the shape of the Guggenheim on the bodice.”
