Rapper Cardi B had a big year in 2017. From becoming the first woman to land five simultaneous hits on the Top 10 Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart to getting engaged to Migos's Offset last October, the singer has shown no signs of slowing down. This upcoming year will most likely hold even more exciting milestones for Cardi—and we're hoping that includes a wedding! While Offset and Cardi B haven't revealed a date and have put wedding planning on the back burner for the time being, the bride-to-be revealed what she wants her potential dress to look like.
Cardi gave us all the wedding feels when she stole the show at the Grammys, sporting a voluminous butterfly-like white gown fit for a rap goddess, which she naturally paired with her massive eight-carat pear-shaped engagement ring. This look definitely steered away from the Bronx-based rapper's typical larger-than-life attire, and it seems like her actual wedding dress will, surprisingly, do the same.
Cardi revealed to The New York Post that she wants the standard fairy-tale look when she walks down the aisle. She described her dream gown as "traditional, big, and white," so maybe her Grammy outfit might actually be a sneak peek of what's to come.
Whatever wedding dress she chooses, one thing's for sure: Cardi plans to spend a pretty penny (at least $50,000, to be exact). During an interview with BBC Radio One, Cardi said that she and Offset will most likely split the wedding bill because she's anticipating some extravagant purchases on her end, especially for her dress. "I don't think that will be fair. I don't like putting all that responsibility on my man," she said of paying for their nuptials. "No, it's a partnership. And I feel like my expenses [are] going to be more expensive than his. I feel like my wedding dress itself is going to be at least $50,000.... It's got to be extravagant." With an engagement ring that's estimated to cost half a million dollars, it only makes sense that the musical artist would have an equally lavish dress to match.
Cardi's traditional dress preferences wouldn't be the first wedding component that seems slightly out of character for the ostentatious performer. The "Bodak Yellow" singer previously dished on her potential wedding music selection, specifically for her first dance with Offset, and no trap hits made the cut. "It’s between Al B. Sure! or Grace Jones," she said during an interview with Beats 1 Radio’s Julie Adenug. We can't wait to see these hip-hop stars twirl around the dance floor to some traditional tunes.
While the betrothed couple has been prioritizing their music careers over wedding planning, Cardi has decided what she wants her future bridesmaids to sport—red suits, and we are fully here for her outfit selection. "Everybody got to be wearing red," she told New York magazine. "My bridesmaids are gonna be wearing suits, what's good." Sounds like she'll have one flaming-hot bridal squad.
We hope Cardi B and Offset don't postpone their wedding for too long, because these nuptials will probably go down in wedding history, and the world can't wait much longer.
