Once all the big wedding-planning steps are checked off—you’ve got the dress, the venue, the vendors—it’s time to get down to the smaller details, like picking a wedding song, for instance. Rap couple Cardi B and Offset, who got engaged in October, are close to settling on a tune for their own upcoming nuptials. Will it be Cardi’s breakout hit, “Bodak Yellow”? Migos fan favorite “Bad and Boujee”? Or a track they’re both on, like “Motorsport”?
Nope, Cardi’s choice is surprisingly sappy and romantic, which is why the tough girl from the Bronx didn’t want to share her selections at first.
“I’m not gonna say it because I’m not gonna sound sensitive,” she said during a recent interview with Beats 1 Radio’s Julie Adenuga. She eventually hinted at the two R&B artists she would want to dance into married life to.
“It’s between Al B. Sure! or Grace Jones,” Cardi divulged.
Can’t you imagine Cardi B and Offset swaying to a slow jam like Al B. Sure!’s “Nite and Day” for their first dance?! #Goals.
Lucky for us, we might get to see it for ourselves. After news of their engagement broke last fall, television networks like VH1, BET, and WEtv expressed interest in televising the nuptials in a million-dollar TV special.
As for a love song of her own, it doesn’t sound like fans can expect too many on Cardi’s next album. The rapper told Adenuga she was in the studio working on a love song just the other day, and she felt the exact opposite of warm and fuzzy.
“While I was doing it, I just kept thinking about a couple of months back when me and [Offset] wasn’t on good terms, and I was getting really pissed off and really emotional,” she shared.
But all Cardi had to do was look at the massive rock on her finger to remember what really matters.
“Then I was like, who cares, I got a ring.”
