Your bridesmaids deserve bridesmaid dresses that reflect not only their individual style, but the vibe of your wedding as well. So what’s a bride to do? Well, if you’re famous fashion blogger and entrepreneur Cara Santana, you partner with one of the most prominent designers in the bridal world to release your own dress. Cara Santana, the fashion It-girl and bride-to-be (she’s engaged to actor Jesse Metcalfe), has collaborated with none other than Monique Lhuillier to release a bridesmaid dress that bares both her moniker and a refreshingly modern and fashion-forward vibe. The best part? The dress is exclusively available on Vow to Be Chic, a bridesmaid dress rental Web site that allows bridal parties to actually rent their dresses for an ultra-affordable price. That’s right—you won’t have to convince your girls to pay an arm and a leg to rock this frock. (Just tell your 'maids to send the thank-you note to us.)
To celebrate the debut of this Monique Lhuillier Bridesmaids capsule collection on Vow To Be Chic, New York’s most stylish gathered at Ladurée SoHo for a bridal shower hosted by Cara herself. (Any excuse to drink champagne, right?)
There, the wedding world got its first peek at the Cara dress, a chiffon column gown with modern lines and an ultra-feminine ruffle at the bust. Available in eight colors, the frock fits into a wide array of color palettes and its strapless neckline makes it perfect for summer weddings.
We’re not the only ones smitten with the Cara dress. “The fun thing about this dress is that the movement of the ruffle makes it really fun for outdoor weddings,” Vow To Be Chic founder and CEO, Kelsey Doorey, told Brides exclusively. “But the form fitting body of the dress means it also looks great at a more formal wedding. This dress has a versatile look and can be styled many ways, which I love!”
And to prove it, Kelsey did just that. “We had so much fun styling this dress at our photo shoot,” she said. “We paired it with a leather jacket, then a floral print bomber, a choker, big sunglasses… The list goes on!”
The versatility of the Cara dress will definitely make it a hit with your bridesmaids, giving them the opportunity to showcase their individuality, while still looking like one cohesive (albeit, totally chic) bridal party. “Bridesmaids are bringing more personal style into their looks,” Kelsey notes of today’s bridesmaid trends. “Whether it's draping a leather jacket over their shoulders at the reception or wearing statement earrings or fave pair of heels, it's fun when each bridesmaid can style the dress in their own way. Even when all bridesmaids in a party wear the same dress, each girl can then look and feel like themselves.”
And the dress’s namesake agrees that the fab frock will work for any one of your bridesmaids—from your Insta-famous college BFF to your more traditional sister-in-law. “The thing about the Cara is that it is so versatile,” explained Santana, noting how that’s something she wanted to bring to all bridal parties no matter their budget, leading her to call upon Vow to Be Chic to facilitate the dress's launch. “I love that they make fashion affordable,” she said of the online rental service. “A wedding is a woman’s biggest day and she shouldn’t have to compromise on how she looks, or how her bridesmaids look, for that matter.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Cara! Santana is becoming somewhat of a wedding expert, after all. The actress and founder of The Glam App is currently planning her wedding to actor Jesse Metcalfe. “I am excited to get all of my friends and family together!” she said of her upcoming nuptials to the John Tucker Must Die hunk. “It will be a great excuse to all be together and have fun!
And what will her bridesmaids be wearing come the big day? “You’ll have to stay tuned,” she teased.
