A walk down memory lane! Nearly 12 years after saying her I do's to husband Mark Silverstein, Busy Philipps slipped back into her wedding dress for an extra special episode of her E! talk show, Busy Tonight.
The Dawson’s Creek alum, 39, shared side-by-side snaps of herself in her stunning strapless “buttercream” gown with a black belted waist and full tulle skirt on Instagram on Thursday, April 11. Sans a veil and a sideswept bang, you would never know any time had passed—at least upon sight.
“Yes. I really pulled out my wedding dress from 12 years ago and wore it on my show tonight,” Philipps wrote. “It basically fit except my stupid upper rib cage which grew after my 2 babies. No one tells you about that sh*t. But babies expand your rib cage so, just be aware. This is a PSA.”
She elaborated on her rib cage woes in an Instagram Story. “12 years after my wedding, it still fits, actually we had to take the belt in, we had to make it smaller, but it doesn’t zip the last two inches up my back, because, you know, rib cage grows after you have babies,” she cautioned. “So, I don’t know if you guys know that, but that is [a] true story.”
Funnily enough, it wasn’t the first the talk show host has busted out old wedding attire: In May 2017, the actress sported her mother’s wedding dress as a surprise for her parents, who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
“Lucky for me, they got married in the 60s and it’s a super cute A-line mini so I wasn’t walking around the boat in a floor length wedding dress!” she joked on Instagram at the time.
This time around, the Cougar Town star’s walk down memory lane coincided with her show’s Made of Honor reunion special. Phillips, who starred in the 2008 flick alongside Whitney Cummings and Michelle Monaghan, hosted her former cast mates, who were also dressed in bridal-wear, as guests ahead of the movie's upcoming 11-year anniversary.
Philipps also discussed her surprise nuptials, telling viewers, “We didn’t tell anyone we were getting married, we had just invited all of our friends to this surprise birthday party,” she said. The plan was always that I would show up in this dress, and as you can see ... it’s a real show-stopper.”
The actress also gushed about her big day on the couple’s 11-year anniversary in June.
"11 years ago today, I got to go to the best wedding ever with the best person I've ever known as my date," she captioned a throwback shot of herself in the dress next to the screenwriter, 47, on Instagram.
She wasn’t kidding. So legendary was their ceremony that Silverstein actually immortalized their vows in the 2012 movie The Vow starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum!
The White Chicks actress told ABC News in June 2014 that the gesture had been a sweet surprise. "Sometimes I read his scripts, sometimes I don't," she admitted. "I hadn't read The Vow script. I watched it on an airplane and was sobbing hysterically during the vows part because I saw my wedding vows in there with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum saying them to each other!"
Hey, with a story and a gown that epic, we'd rewear it too!
