Sarah Palin's oldest daughter Bristol is engaged to Sgt. Dakota Meyer — only the third living recipient of the U.S. Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War!
According to People, Bristol and Dakota first met when the former Marine was in Alaska filming an episode of Amazing America. Fast forward to last week, when Dakota flew to Alaska to ask Bristol's father and grandfather for permission to marry her. How sweet is that?
He popped the question days later on March 13, at Rascal Flatts' Vegas Riot! show at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's The Joint, according to Us Weekly. The band dedicated their beautiful ballad — and perfect choice for a first dance song! — "Bless This Broken Road," to the couple.
Palin took to Instagram to show off a beautiful cushion-cut diamond engagement ring surrounded by a pavé halo. She also snapped a picture beside Dakota, and shared it with the caption, "Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!"
The soon-to-be groom also posted a photo of the couple on his own Instagram account, captioning their grinning image, "I'm definitely the luckiest guy ever to be able to spend the rest of my life with @bsmp2. #shesaidyes."
Meanwhile, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin also took to social media, writing on Facebook, "Our families couldn't be happier for Bristol and Dakota! We're honored to welcome Dakota into our family. He's an American hero and patriot whose service to our country — like all his fellow Medal of Honor recipients — has been above and beyond the call of duty."
