It's a very exciting time for newly engaged Bristol Palin, who is clearly still reeling from her surprise proposal from boyfriend Sgt. Dakota Meyer! On Friday evening, Meyer popped the question backstage at a Rascal Flatts concert at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
According to Us Weekly, Palin was thrilled with Meyer's unique proposal. "He's so romantic! He asked me to marry him at a Rascal Flatts concert," Palin said. "The lead singer, Gary LeVox, dedicated 'Bless the Broken Road' to us, and then Dakota got down on one knee and proposed!" While the 24-year-old bride-to-be was clearly thrilled with the unexpected engagement, she seems even happier now to have a lifelong reminder of that very special moment.
She shared the above video of LeVox's congratulations and song dedication on her Instagram account and thanked a friend for capturing the announcement so she could cherish it forever. "So thankful to have this on video @brady_melin," she wrote.
The bride-to-be isn't the only one feeling the glow from her newly engaged status. Meyer, a war veteran who saved the lives of 36 comrades during an ambush in 2009, had some seriously sweet things to say about his wife-to-be and future stepson.
In an interview with NBC News, Meyer explained that being with Palin has given him everything he could wish for in life. "If the last five years taught me anything, it is that there are no guarantees for tomorrow. We've all lost so many friends who had so many dreams. For years now, I couldn't move forward in my life mourning their loss. It's the last thing any of them would have wanted for me," Meyer said. "For the first time in a long time, I am truly happy and looking forward to living each day for the rest of my life with Bristol. I feel like Bristol and Tripp have given me a new lease on life, and I can hardly wait to share it with them."
