A first kiss is a monumental moment in a relationship — that can truly make or break the future and what happens next. For one bride, it was at the altar on the day of the wedding; for another bride, it was while nauseous on a swing. But for every woman, the first kiss was forever memorable. Here, real brides reveal the story behind their first kiss with their husband — the one that started it all.
"My husband and I have been married 34 years. Our first date and first kiss happened on December 20, 1979. We were in college, and met at a bar while celebrating finals being over. We hit it off immediately and the next night went out. As he was taking me back to the dorm, I was really anticipating our first kiss. He walked me to the door and kissed me on the forehead. At the time I was very disappointed, but came to learn that a kiss on the forehead is a sign of appreciation and deep respect. Fast forward to now and our first kiss has turned into one of the kisses we include in our new product we just launched this year, Kisses 4 Us. Kisses 4 Us is a box of fun, flirty, romantic kisses for Making Kissing Fun!" —Kim
"We kissed in the hot tub at my mother's townhouse complex. While my kids were swimming, the two of us snuck over to the hot tub and started getting cozy. We had only been dating for a short time, but both felt the kiss coming on. Eventually, during the course of our conversation, we got closer and closer. Then the magic moment happened. It was amazing... and probably would have led to more if we hadn't been in public!" —Paula
"My boyfriend (now husband) and I were at a local playground. We were still in the 'getting to know each other' phase. We went on the swings. After several minutes, he jumped out of his. I continue to swing but started to feel nauseous from all the swinging. I slowed down my swing to almost a stop. He was standing in front of me and leaned in for a kiss. I prayed that I did not throw up in his mouth. My prayers worked and we shared a passionate first kiss!" —Satyra
"The first time we kissed was during our third "date", which was a pretty unofficial event. We just ran to Starbucks as an excuse to hang out. We got our coffee and were pulling out of the parking lot when we locked eyes and he leaned in. The rest is history, but it was only recently that I found out he was feeling discouraged because I didn't kiss HIM on our first or second date and felt if he didn't kiss me then our relationship would never go further. Six years later I'm pretty glad he decided to go for it. —Julie
"The first time my husband and I kissed was at the altar during our wedding. It was actually my first kiss ever. Many of our wedding guests commented that it was the most beautiful wedding kiss they'd ever seen; and my mother-in-law described the kiss as 'so pure and so beautiful, as if they invented the tradition.'" —Leah
"The kiss happened after seven hours of talking and laughing and me wondering if he was ever going to make his move! Without sounding too cliché, it was like a scene out of a movie. I felt like I was floating! It just felt... different. The next day he caught a flight and moved across the country. I guess you can say that kiss was so amazing that we decided to enter into a long-distance relationship... for two and a half years! Nearly nine years later we are happily married and still love to reminisce about that first kiss." —Lindsey
