For most couples who opt to do a first look, it's often one of the most anticipated parts of the wedding day. You're about to marry your person! You get to see your guy or girl all gussied up in a dapper suit or gorgeous gown! Or, in some cases, in a raggedy old t-shirt and pair of sweatpants. At least, that's what this bride decided to rock for her first look as a hilarious prank for her groom.
At her Arizona wedding last week, bride Erin Goldberg planned to share a first look with her about-to-be hubby—a very, very unique first look, at that. “I thought it would be really funny for Ean to turn around, expecting this huge moment of me looking gorgeous in my dress with my makeup and hair done, only to turn around and see me in one of my typically embarrassing casual outfits,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
So on the big day instead of her wedding dress, Erin slipped into something far more comfy: an oversized cat shirt from Walmart she's had since she was 17-years-old and a pair of grey sweats. She is beauty; she is grace.
TBH, this is the realest first look we've ever seen. After all, you're only wearing that pretty dress for one day. Sweatpants are for life.
Leading up to the big reveal, all Erin could think was, “I hope he finds this as funny as I do.” And it appears that her groom truly did, as seen in the hilarious Instagram photos above, taken by the couple's wedding photographer Molly McElenney.
"As soon as she told me about it, I knew we had to make room for it in the timeline because his reaction alone would be totally worth it,” McElenney told Yahoo. “This was just another way they displayed the playfulness of their relationship.”
Of course, Erin didn't actually say I do in her sweats and later changed into her wedding dress for her and her groom's real first look and ceremony. But their first will always be their favorite! “We will remember how much pressure it took off the rest of the wedding day process having started off with that hysterical, laughing moment that just the two of us shared,” Erin remembers of the moment. “It was a lot easier to relax and take more serious (and incredible) first-look photos when we were more comfortable.”
Besides, Erin's groom was saying I do to her cat shirt, too! According to Yahoo, that wardrobe staple isn't going anywhere, and Erin's new hubby wouldn't have it any other way.
“Even in her cat shirt, sweatpants, and stupid slip-on shoes, she still looked drop-dead gorgeous,” he said. Swoon.
