If there's one thing millennials love, it's trendy, Instagram-worthy desserts. And in recent wedding fads, doughnuts have reigned as one of the most versatile treats to make your big day extra sweet. From doughnut cakes to entire walls of doughnuts, the brides and grooms have proved there's no limit to what the breakfast pastry can do for wedding décor. But one bride took the trend to the next level when she surprised her bridesmaids with the ultimate wedding treat: edible bouquets.
Paige Burgess , a 23-year-old bride from Sydney, Australia, wanted to add a playful touch to her wedding day. She and her husband decided to thank her bridesmaids by surprising them with bouquets of doughnuts to walk with down the aisle.
"Me and my husband Steven thought it would be different, fun and light hearted," the bride told the BBC. And as delicious as the bouquets looked, the bride said that her bridesmaids were able to refrain from snacking on them throughout the ceremony.
"We had plenty of goodies beforehand so we were too full too eat them," she added.
The sugary bouquet creations were donated by Dessert Boxes, an Australian company that specializes in creating dessert-centric gifts. Burgess was the first to actually bring their doughnut bouquets down the aisle.
Since her wedding on Saturday, Burgess has received an overwhelming amount of attention online, amassing thousands of comments on the pictures of her and her bridesmaids with their doughnut bouquets.
"We wanted the wedding to be a bit different and really reflect who we are as a couple," Burgess explained. "Everyone thought it was hilarious, and the venue couldn't believe it."
We have a funny feeling that this won't be the last we hear of this wedding trend.
