There was not a dry eye in the house when bride Liz Mylin stepped out on the dance floor for the father-daughter dance at her wedding. The sweet moment normally garners a tear or two from guests at any wedding, but the surprise Mylin pulled off had everyone reaching for several tissues. For the special moment, she changed into her mother’s wedding dress from 1979, shocking everyone—including her parents.

After dinner, the DJ pointed guests toward the door where Mylin made her grand entrance for the special dance, revealing her surprise outfit change. “As Liz waltzed in, my camera was pointed at her mom, who immediately gasped,” Ashley Gillman of Ashley Elizabeth Photography told the Huffington Post. “Her eyes started filling with tears.”

In her vintage, flutter-sleeve dress, the bride then went on to dance with her father to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.” Cue the waterworks.

The sweet surprise got its start after Mylin bought her actual wedding dress (a beautiful gown with a beaded bodice and illusion neckline), giving her mom the fun idea to have Mylin try on her gown from almost 40 years ago.

“To both of our surprise, it fit perfectly,” Mylin said. “Ever since that day, my mom could not stop talking about me in her wedding dress. She was even talking about it the day before our wedding.” Then, it was Mylin’s aunt who later came up with the bright idea for the bride to wear the dress during the reception, resulting in the memorable moment.

“Wearing my mom’s wedding dress was about tradition, a strong marriage, and honoring the beauty and strength of my mother,” explained Mylin. “It was also about the respect I have for both of my parents, and the love, friendship, and laughter I hope to share with my husband for a lifetime.”

This might go down in history for the best second look moment of all time!
