Back in the day, the words “pink” and “eye” in the same sentence was far from a good thing. Fast forward to the present and rosy lids are a top beauty trend. According to Pinterest’s 2017 Wedding Report, searches for pink eye shadow are up 45%. From dusty rose to bold magenta, these romantic hues are having a major moment. “I think pink eyeshadow is gaining popularity because you can use it in so many different shades and it looks beautiful on every skin tone,” says makeup artist Alex LaMarsh. “Its truly a feminine color that reminds us of springtime and a fresh flush; it also works to enhance and accentuate brides’ youthfulness.” And it’s not just brides who are flirting with this look, celebs like Selena Gomez, Lily Collins, Emily Blunt and Sophia Bush have rocked these hues on the red carpet.

At the 2017 Met Gala, all eyes were on Selena Gomez’s, well eyes. “This bold shade would be amazing with a more modern silhouette, or a bright white dress,” says LaMarsh.
Get the look: Makeup artist Hung Vanngo used Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon in (Pop)ular 49 along her top lash line and on the outer corners of her eyelids. He swept soft pink shadows from Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eyeshadow Palette in The Lover 220 across her entire eye area and along her bottom lashes. Craving a close-up? Lily Collins looked like a fairytale princess at the 74th Annual Golden Globes. Beyond just being gorgeous, it’s totally wearable. “If you want classically romantic look, this is it. The soft, warm pink is great for any age or skin tone,” notes LaMarsh.

Talk about pretty in pink! Sophia Bush stunned with punchy peepers at the 2017 SAG Awards (and we love that it perfectly matched her gown). “Fuchsia is a beautiful color, but it’s quite bold,” says LaMarsh, who recommends choosing a ￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼shade that’s a bit less vibrant (more on the warm side) for your big day. If you’re married to this bright hue, be sure to balance it out with a more subtle lip.

At the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Emily Blunt opted for a metallic rose hue, which looked lovely with her complexion and subtle lip. “You can’t go wrong with rose gold shadow. It's complimentary to all skin tones and is absolutely perfect for spring or summer ceremonies,” says LaMarsh.
Get the look: Makeup artist Jenn Streicher primed her eyes with Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Linen. She used Second Skin Cheek Colour in Rose Bloom in her crease and a metallic rust hue on her lids. With a wet eyeshadow brush, she applied Baked Eye Colour in Terracotta on the eyes and along the lower lash line.
