Congratulations are in order for country singer Brett Young—he's going to be a dad!
The "Here Tonight" crooner and his wife, Taylor, announced on Saturday that they would be welcoming their first child later this year. They found out they were expecting during a trip to Las Vegas in February over Super Bowl weekend, when Taylor decided to take a pregnancy test "on a whim," People reports.
“I was in shock when it read positive. I really just didn’t believe what I was seeing,” Taylor told People of the day she took the test. “After it sunk in, I was so happy and so overwhelmed that I just started crying — happy tears of course! Brett and I hugged, kissed and talked for hours about how long we had been wanting this and how excited we are to become parents.”
The surprise turned out to be a very warmly welcomed one. “We have always shared the same heart for wanting a family,” said Brett. “I love knowing that we get to give this little one an amazing life, and I just can’t wait for the future ahead of us as a family. We are so blessed!”
Taylor share the birth announcement to Instagram, writing, "Baby Young is due early fall and we could not be more excited! Finding out we were expecting a little one was one of the happiest moments of my life. Feeling so blessed. I love you baby daddy."
The couple wed in November, 2018 in a beautiful outdoor ceremony in California. Brett popped the question in February of last year after 10 years of dating on and off. They met while Taylor was in school in Arizona, but took some time off when he relocated to work on his music. “When I moved to Nashville, we took a break for a few years, and I wrote a lot of my first record about her,” he said at the time of the engagement. “There was never any bad blood; it was just the wrong time for us. We recently got back in touch and realized that we were both finally in the same place and knew it was right.”
And now, Taylor has no doubt that her hubby will be a great father. “Brett is so good with kids — he’ll be an incredible dad,” she told People.“I think being a father will come so naturally to him. He’s kind, patient, and a good listener, but he’s also a goofball and isn’t afraid to have fun. Family is so important to both of us, so I don’t have a single doubt in my mind that he will be a very present and involved father and that our child and family will always come first.”
