Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship has not been without drama since day one. And now, as they attempt to finalize a divorce, it seems as though the high-profile couple has been sticking to that pattern. Just after the new year, the duo hired a private judge to help them work through their divorce and custody issues, but E! News has reported that they are closer to resolution than ever before.
While a true reconciliation may not be in the cards, a source tells the media outlet that “things have calmed and settled between Brad and Angelina. It’s not as tense as it has been.” The source went on to explain that “they are focused on the kids and working to do what’s best for them.”
The couple had previously been communicating only through others but are reportedly now taking steps to discuss things on a more personal level. And with six children between them, no one knows what’s better for their family than Pitt and Jolie themselves.
Another source told E! that “they recently started talking again and it’s a significant step. Up until now, everything was through lawyers and assistants. They did not speak at all after the plane incident and everything that went down in the press.” What’s more, it seems as though it was the children themselves who drove Pitt and Jolie to make more direct contact, as the source shares that the decision came “at the recommendation of the children’s therapists and their own. [They] are focused on the kids and taking small steps to mend what has happened. Right now they are only speaking about the kids and their schedules, but it’s a positive step.”
Here’s hoping that, even though their marriage may be over, they still—in part—remain the Hollywood family we’ve grown to love. The couple secretly wed at their French estate, Chateau Miraval, in August 2014. Just the couple's closest family and friends were in attendance, including their six children. Even more special, Jolie had drawings created by her children sewn onto her train and veil.
