Ever since the release of Beyoncé's visual album Lemonade dropped, the Beyhive has been 'a buzzin'. Rumors swirled that Bey's hubby, Jay-Z, had been having extra-marital affairs with fashion designer Rachel Roy — who some fans actually ended up confusing with Rachael Ray, the famous Food Network chef, funny story. But anyways, we digress. Such infidelity speculation has led many to believe that one of our fave celeb couples are headed straight for divorce.
But the rumors began to die down a little bit after Beyoncé started her world tour and thanked her "beautiful husband" onstage in front of her fans. If a couple was about to split, that'd probably be the last thing from their mouths, right? Well, as we were teetering between believing they were together 4-eva (or close to splitting up), a peculiar thing happened Monday at the Met Gala that got us thinking about their marriage all over again.
If you happened to miss the Met Gala coverage this year, you're probably blissfully unaware that Bey showed up on the red carpet (looking like a queen, per usual) without her wedding ring on — and without her famous husband in tow. Now, this could mean a number of things, one being that the "Single Ladies" singer simply felt the band didn't look great when paired with her custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown.
As Page Six points out, this isn't the first time Beyoncé has walked the red carpet without her wedding ring — she's actually been doing it frequently since the couple wed in 2009. But, we'd be lying if Jay-Z's lack of appearance didn't make us a tad worried.
What makes matters worse is that reports are now showing that the rapper has his sights set on releasing a rebuttal to "Lemonade."
"Jay is working on an album telling his side of things," a source told Us Weekly. Maybe this will be good therapy for both artists to air their dirty laundry to the entire world? Whatever happens, we figure that since this celeb duo got through Elevatorgate, they can pretty much get through anything.
Marriage is no easy task, after all!
