This one is for the bridesmaids! If your BFF just got engaged, but you have no idea how to start planning her bachelorette party or bridal shower, check out lifestyle and entertaining guru Bethenny Frankel's tips on throwing the ultimate pre-wedding bash.
"This doesn't have to be cheesy! It can be something feminine and simple such as 'Pretty in Pink' or 'Garden Party,'" says Bethenny. Having a theme pulls the party together by providing a direction for the food, drinks, décor, and music.
Get the Ball Rolling
Start with a video montage or a quiz with questions about the bride to spark conversation between guests who may not know each other well. While its good to keep things light hearted, embarrassing the bride at any point in time is major faux pas so be sensitive about what you share.
Offer Signature Sips
Save yourself the hassle of having to assemble a full bar by pre-mixing a delicious signature cocktail. One of Bethenny's favorites? A pink lemon drop, from her new book Skinnygirl Cocktails: 100 Fun Flirty Guilt-Free Recipes. It's super simple to make: You'll need 1 1/2 ounces of Skinnygirl Meyer Lemon Vodka, 3/4 part orange or citrus liqueur, 1 1/2 parts lemon sour mix, and 3 to 4 fresh (or thawed if frozen) raspberries. To prepare it, muddle the raspberries at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the vodka, liqueur, sour mix and ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass or pretty decanter if making a large batch. Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim.
Don't Overthink It
These events are about the bride. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience for her so don't sweat the small stuff. If you put time and thought into planning, she will have an unforgettable time and be thankful for the amazing girls in her life!
