Nick, one of the final two contestants vying for Kaitlyn's heart — and potentially hand in marriage — showed up mid-season to win Kaitlyn over after the two had bonded away from the cameras before she began her stint as Bachelorette (you may also recall that caused a major stir on last season of the Bachelorette, as Andi Dorfman's runner up). On camera, these two describe it as a few tweets, texts, and phone calls. But E! News has it on good word that their previous connection entailed a bit more than that.
"Kaitlyn and Nick initially started talking as friends," a source who knows the couple told E! News. "They had both been on the show and they bonded over that mutual experience. But it soon took a romantic turn. They never met in person before the show, but they were talking, texting and Facetiming for hours at a time from late February to early March. It would sometimes go on until the middle of the night."
Their pre-show contact took a scandalous turn. "They were explicit about their feelings," the source added. "And while they didn't sext, intimate photos were exchanged. It was steamy."
And as for his feather-ruffling arrival, the two discussed it way before this season of The Bachelorette even went into production. "She told him she was hoping he'd surprise her on the show. She said it in a joking way, but I think she was serious. She told her friends she was hoping he'd do it," that same insider added.
Nick, too, reportedly told close friends that he hope Britt would be chosen as Bachelorette so that he and Kaitlyn could pursue their relationship further.
This news has us feeling all the feels. 1) We feel terrible for his arch nemesis, Shawn. 2) It seems like Nick might be the one to not only receive the final rose but also ask Kaitlyn to marry him.
