Raven Gates and Adam Gottschalk fell in love after meeting on the fourth season of The Bachelor spinoff series, Bachelor in Paradise. And now the couple has announced they're heading toward the aisle! As some heartfelt social media posts from the two of them revealed, Gottschalk proposed to Gates in Dallas, Texas, just a few days ago.
Both of the reality stars took to Instagram to share their romantic engagement shots; In a series of images, Gates showed fans the exact moment when Gottschalk got down on one knee on a rooftop in Dallas. She paired the images on Instagram with lyrics from Shania Twain's "Forever and For Always." "I'm keeping you forever and for always/We will be together all of our days /Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face," she penned. Gottschalk, meanwhile, captioned his photos, "5.31.19 #Engaged."
In an exclusive interview with E! News, Gottschalk explained he tricked Gates before the proposal, telling her they were doing a photoshoot for her online boutique.
"She thought it was a normal shoot day. We were at the helicopter pad on the roof and Raven had roses in her hand. She was throwing the petals up for cute photos," he said. "She did a few practice runs and then the videographer slipped me the ring and once she threw the petals up, I got down on one knee. I blacked out, but I got everything out that I wanted. I legitimately broke down and cried. It took me 30 seconds to pull it together. After I saw the video that the videographer made, I was sobbing for hours."
Afterward, the couple says they celebrated with their close friends and family.
They got tons of love and support from other members of the Bachelor and its spinoff series. Arie Luyendyk Jr., who recently announced he'd had a baby girl with his wife Lauren Burnham, complimented Gottschalk for picking out a show-stopping sparkler. “Adam did good on that ring,” he wrote “Congrats you two!"
On Tuesday, Gottschalk shared how the entire thing went down by posting a five-minute Instagram video that documented the whole proposal. In the video, Gottschalk shows off the ring and shares all the detailed planning that went into pulling off the surprise.
"This weekend has been a work in progress for the last 4 months. I went to bed with you Thursday night as my girlfriend and woke up to you as my fiancé on Friday!" he wrote on Instagram. "I can’t believe all the love and support from everyone over the last couple of days."
Gottschalk and Gates have opened up in the past about what it was like getting to know each another since their time on television. In an Instagram post from December 2017, Gates shared that she knew she was "gonna keep Adam around the first weekend we spent together outside of paradise."
“We met in Memphis & had a blast that weekend (after the initial awkward moment we realized okay this isn’t paradise anymore.. this is our REAL lives.)," she explained in her post, adding, "That was the first time in a long time, I felt safe enough to fall in love. I hope everyone finds an Adam."
