Congratulations are in order for former Bachelor contestant Bekah Martinez! The reality star gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Grayston Leonard on Saturday, February 2.
According to People, the couple welcomed a baby girl via water birth at the Natural Birth Center in Los Angeles. Their new addition, whom they have yet to name, came into the world at 7 pounds, 10 ounces.
Photographer Lauren Guilford captured photos of the birth in black and white. In one, Martinez is pictured in the tub holding her newborn, umbilical cord still attached, with Leonard looking over the new mom’s shoulder and at his baby girl.
Leonard posted his own photos to his personal page with the caption, “#nopicturesplease,” as the mitten-wearing newborn covers her face.
Martinez, who competed on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor, announced her pregnancy in September via YouTube video. “It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long. I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of marriage and relationships, but I’ve always felt sure that I want to be a mom,” she told Pure Wow at the time.
She added how she wanted to keep the pregnancy out of the public eye for as long as possible, justifying waiting until she was 20 weeks along to announce it. “I wanted time to process it between Gray and I and our family without all of the exterior noise chiming in.”
Since announcing, Martinez has been very outspoken about her pregnancy journey on social media, even up until her due date, which she revealed. “Today is my official due date,” she wrote on Instagram three days before she gave birth. “ My, what a journey it has been. Thank you all for the love you’ve showered upon me. There is so much from these past 9 months to be grateful for.”
In an earlier post she expressed how calm she was going into the final days of her pregnancy. “Mommy or mamí?” Martinez wrote on Instagram. “39 weeks + 5 days. I actually have super-human patience right now—I know my due date is Tuesday, but I am perfectly at peace with going a couple weeks more. I trust my baby and I trust my body. He or she will come when they’re fully ready for the journey earth-side.”
