What do you get when you mix one part thoughtful best man and one part musical prowess? If you guessed a six-minute long musical medley, set to the tune of popular songs like Sam Smith's "Stay With Me," The Police's "Every Breath You Take," and Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from The Lion King, then you're (shockingly) correct.
When Melbourne musician Daniel Buccheri was asked to be his brother's best man, the talented singer and pianist knew he had to plan something special for his toast. Buccheri told Mashable that he decided to bring his keyboard into the venue as a surprise for his brother, Adrian, and new sister-in-law, Sarah. "I really didn't want to write a conventional speech, so I thought I would do what I do best as a muso and write a song," he said.
And write a song he did! The epic toast lasts just over six minutes and includes Buccheri's own lyrics using a mash-up of several different tunes. He kicked off his emotional performance with, "I guess it's true when they say you become a man, when you find the one and take her hand. Lucky for you, it all went to plan and she didn't say no, because that would be sad."
Although the couple initially exchanges hesitant glances and nervous giggles, after a few moments it's clear they're excited about the non-traditional speech. "They were pretty shocked and emotional, and really appreciative of all the work I put in," Buccheri said of the bride and groom's reaction. "They loved it."
They're not the only people who loved it, either. In the five days since he posted the video, which was shot by WeddingMovies, to his Facebook account, Buccheri has already had over half a million views. "When I wrote it, it was partly due to stress because I knew I had to write something and I left it quite late," he admitted. "I didn't expect it to go viral, it was just something that came out and fell together like it did. It just all the right elements."
