She's received a proposal, and she's going to be in another friend's wedding! Amy Schumer shared on social media that she will be a bridesmaid after posting that her bride-to-be BFF asked her to be a part of her bridal party for her upcoming wedding.
"Ornaments and we are holding balls that read "will you be my bridesmaid?" Yes Kate! We're in!" the 35-year-old comedienne captioned her Instagram post, which was a cute snap of her and her friends holding christmas ornaments with the bridesmaid proposal on them. From the looks of it, the bride-to-be, Kate, gave her girls a fun and festive bridesmaid gift of an ornament and "popped the question."
Schumer's fans took to her Instagram comments section to share their thoughts about her newfound bridesmaid duties — with light-hearted comments such as "I would get married again if you were going to be my bridesmaid" from @ablatchley to more dark and trollish comments, with @johnno958 writing "You look thrilled (like any poor woman that has to go through that drudgery does.....)." Ouch. Either way, we know this bridal party (and bachelorette party) will be one heck of a good time, especially with this hilariously funny woman in the mix.
Now this isn't her first rodeo in the bridal party department, as back in August, the Trainwreck star was a dutiful bridesmaid in her friend Tara Alana's wedding to Rusty Fitton. During the summer nuptials, Schumer wore a strapless blush-colored gown and shared some fun photos on social media to document the day. "Congratulations to @tara_alana and @rustolleum in the best wedding ever," she wrote on IG. "Very proud to be a bmaid." Looks like she's able to fulfill her duties pretty seamlessly, which can be tough when you're a celebrity.
Even though she's been walking down the aisle as a bridesmaid, wedding bells are not yet in the cards for Schumer and her Chicago-based furniture maker boyfriend Ben Hanisch (although we can dream, can't we?). The two have been dating for several months after meeting on a dating app, according to Chicago Tribune. As she shared in her new book, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, it wasn't the Bumble app that brought them together, but rather it was Raya, a private social network for creatives.
Schumer describes her first dating app encounter with her beau. "In my main profile picture, I was wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap with no makeup. It was a selfie and I made a gross face, looking as though I were dying, because I was hiking, so I was. I also put up a picture of Sophia from 'The Golden Girls,' Claire Danes making her cry face on 'Homeland,' and one more normal photo where I was smiling and wearing a sweatshirt," she explained, noting that when she finally posted her profile at the same time she and her friend Vanessa "scream-giggled like little girls." After clicking the "like" button for a few gents on the site, she and Hanisch were matched within 40 minutes. Talk about fate!
The pair has been dating ever since, with the Chicago native coming along with Schumer to some of her red carpet events and book signing gigs. Important as those are, it now it looks like they'll have another big event to attend to — Kate's wedding! Congrats on the new "gig," Amy.
