America Ferrera brought a very special date to the 2018 Golden Globe Awards: her barely-there baby bump. Just a week after announcing that she and husband Ryan Piers Williams are expecting their first child together, Ferrera showed off her bump while walking the red carpet at Sunday night’s awards show with fellow #TimesUp supporter Natalie Portman.
Ferrera, who won a Golden Globe for her role in Ugly Betty in 2007, dazzled on the red carpet in a floor-length sparkly black gown and long black blazer. She completed the look with a small black clutch, beachy waves, and a rosy, fresh-faced makeup look. Before arriving at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, Ferrera shared a post on Instagram explaining why she chose to join countless other women in wearing black to the Golden Globes. “BECAUSE EVERY WOMAN, EVERYWHERE, HAS POWER AND A VOICE. BECAUSE EVERY WOMAN, EVERYWHERE, DESERVES SAFETY AND DIGNITY. Why do you wear black? And I wanna see a pic of you in black! Tag me please! #WHYWEWEARBLACK #TIMESUP,” she captioned a photo entitled “Why I Wear Black Today.”
“It’s so incredible to look around and see everyone in solidarity, ready to really address the issues that exist in our industry and across all industries,” the 33-year-old told NBC on the red carpet, according to People. “It’s our job—right now, the time is now—for us to do the work that will make women and all people more safe and more equal in their workplaces and in their lives.”
The Superstore star also shared a photo of her and Portman, who joined Ferrera in wearing an all-black floor-length gown on Sunday, outside of Ferrera’s house, before heading to the show together. “My gentlewoman of a date, @nportmanofficial came all the way to the door for me. How ladies do. #TIMESUP #WHYWEWEARBLACK,” she captioned the pic, in which she and Portman pose together, prom-style.
Ferrera and Williams announced their big news in a sweet Instagram post on New Year‘s Eve. “We’re welcoming one more face to kiss in 2018! Wishing you #MásBesos in the New Year! #babybesos #HappyNewYear 😘” she captioned a photo of her and Williams wearing glittery “2018” sunglasses and holding up a tiny onesie with “Más Besos (por favor)” printed on it.
