Amal and George Clooney are having a busy week. On Monday, Amal will join Anna Wintour, Rihanna, and Donatella Versace in cohosting the annual Met Gala. But before the human rights lawyer helps throw the fashion party of the year, she had to celebrate her husband's 57th birthday.

According to the Daily Mail, the Clooneys rang in the milestone on Sunday night with an intimate dinner date at Locanda Verde, an upscale Italian restaurant in downtown Manhattan. As seen in photos from their date night, the duo coordinated in chic blue ensembles. George opted for a navy suit, a matching navy button-down, and classic black dress shoes, while Amal wore a midnight blue mid-sleeve romper, nude strappy sandals, and gold earrings, belt, and clutch.

Though the Clooneys have yet to reveal what Amal gifted George in honor of the big 5-7, there's a good chance it was a highly romantic and full of meaning. Earlier this year, for Amal's 40th birthday, her husband of three and a half years whisked her away to Big Sur, California, for a much-needed 24-hour getaway before returning home to twins Alexander and Ella, who will turn 1 next month. Slightly less breathtaking—though surely no less meaningful—was Amal's 55th birthday gift to George, back in 2016. "We have a beautiful front lawn at our house in England and I used to mow lawns when I was a kid, so she bought me this giant riding lawn mower that is sitting at the house right now, and I'm very excited about putting that to work when I'm home," he told ET Canada at the time.

Earlier on Sunday, the actor celebrated his big day by taking a shot of his own Casamigos tequila with his close friend and Casamigos business partner Rande Gerber. In a video posted on the liquor brand's official Instagram page, Clooney and Gerber take shots in tandem from a Casamigos-branded shotski before playfully pretending to fall over from the drink. "When the bosses spend too much time in the office, this happens! Happy Birthday, George!" read the clip's caption.
