Ever since Girls star Allison Williams got engaged to CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen a year ago, we've anxiously waited to see what kind of Disney Princess-worthy wedding she'd have. After all, have you seen her?! She's got the poise, ginormous engagement ring, and looks of a real-life Belle or Cinderella — plus, let's not forget her Disney acting cred too (hello, Peter Pan Live). In spite of that, she's facing a wedding-planning setback that brings her back down earth with the rest of us.
During a Q&A with Seth Meyers at New York's 92Y on Wednesday, Williams revealed that, like many brides, she's had to postpone her wedding due to personal issues. Hers, though, are of a much higher profile: She named her role as Peter Pan and her NBC Nightly News anchor father Brian Williams's scandal as roadblocks.
"It's been a very full year...You sort of think, 'What could possibly come along that would make me not think about [my wedding]?' And then I get 'Peter Pan' and I think, 'OK, I will think only about Neverland and then we'll go back to planning our wedding,'" she explained.
"And then current events started happening and so that derailed it a little bit...It's just something we haven't focused on, but, spoiler alert, we are excited!"
Nearly every bride faces some sort of professional or familial challenge at some point in her wedding-planning process, but we're happy to hear that Williams and Van Veen are staying positive in spite of their situation!
