Alison Pill rang in the New Year with a new fiancé. But while most proposals are often an intimate moment between two lovebirds, Pill's future hubby, actor Joshua Leonard, enlisted her Newsroom co-star Tom Sadoski, who played her on-screen ex Don Keefer, for some help popping the question.
It all went down in Joshua Tree with Sadoski staging the scene as if he was taking a photo for the couple.
"I had been on a rocky mountain top in Joshua Tree, and Tommy Sadoski, who is like my older brother, who plays Don [Keefer] on The Newsroom, documented with his camera the entire thing," the bride-to-be told Us Weekly at the Los Angeles premiere of her fiancé's new HBO series Togetherness.
But the proposal wasn't as seamless as they initially thought — Pill almost fell off the mountain!
"We should also add that just before it happened Alison nearly fell off the rocky cliffside, so I ushered her over under the guise of protecting her from falling to her death," the groom added.
"It was pretty amazing. I thought we were about to take a picture when he said, 'Tommy let's do this!' I was like, 'Alright let's... Wha, What?!!'" Pill recalled of the proposal. "And unbeknownst to me he had already cleared it with my parents!"
As if this whole story couldn't get any cuter, Leonard made sure to get the okay from her parents over the holidays.
"Her family is in Canada, and we were back there over the holidays and I cornered them while she was taking the dog out for a walk," Leonard continued. "Alison comes from a feminist household, so I figured it would be important to ask both parents' permission, lest it seem too patriarchal, and they were both very supportive, as are my parents, so it's very exciting."
Exciting indeed! The proposal sounds even more adorable than we initially anticipated. We can't even imagine what sweet moments will fill the ceremony and on-and-off screen friends will attend their wedding!
