Talk about a touchdown. Not only did the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide football team take the win at last night's CFP National Championship Game, but offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman scored his second victory of the night when he proposed to his No. 1 fan, girlfriend Nikki Hegstetter—right on the field!
At 13-points down at halftime, it didn't look good for Crimson Tide in the championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. It especially didn't look good for number 75, Bradley Bozeman. Bozeman had planned to propose to his girlfriend that very night if his team came out victorious, he later revealed to ESPN. And Bozeman was clear—this was a win-win only deal.
But apparently, there's no better motivation than an engagement! The game went into overtime, where Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama’s quarterback, threw a 41-yard pass down to wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who scored a touchdown. And with that, Crimson Tide won the game—and one of the players was about to win the girl!
While the team and Crimson Tide fans celebrated the 26-23 victory amongst the chaos and floating confetti at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Bozeman's girlfriend Nikki Hegstetter ran onto the field to assumedly congratulate him on the winning game. There, she got the Super Bowl of surprises when Bozeman dropped to one knee and proposed, revealing the ring he had stashed away.
Rocking the same jersey number as her love, Hegstetter burst into tears before nodding her head yes and embracing her new fiancé.
"I had something planned that I wanted to say," Bozeman later told ESPN of the big moment. "But it completely left my mind."
Now, Bozeman is walking away from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with two victories. But what if he had lost to the Georgia Bulldogs? "We would have had to regroup," said Bozeman.
