Adele has been a major presence at weddings for the past decade—we've all watched a couple slow-dance to "Make You Feel My Love" at some time or another—but she recently took on an even greater role in the nuptials of British comedian Alan Carr, whom she's known for about 10 years, and Paul Drayton. As Carr revealed this week, Adele served not only as wedding singer but also as planner, hostess, and officiant at the ceremony.
As reported by Daily Mail, Carr shared that the dreamy wedding took place in the backyard of Adele's Los Angeles home in January. "She's known me and Paul for ages, and she said, 'I want to do your special day. Let me do everything.' And she did everything—she got ordained and she married us," he said on the U.K. talk show This Morning. "She is the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever. She did the whole day."
And though Carr confirmed that Adele did indeed sing his and Drayton's first dance song, he wouldn't reveal which of her hits she performed, only reiterating that she made it "the best day of my life."
The Chatty Man host couldn't stop gushing about the Grammy winner—and for good reason. "[She's] the loveliest person going," he said. "What you see is what you get. She's the loveliest, most generous." Plus, she can plan a pretty spectacular wedding: "It was lovely. I just want to tell everyone, and she won't say 'cause she's so private, but flowers, three-course meal, all these things, and she just planned it all," Carr said. "It was the best day of my life."
If Adele ever gets tired of raking in all those Grammys, she could always start a one-woman wedding-planning and -performing service right from her own backyard.
