Brittany & Andrew's Real Wedding | Stowe, Vermont
Brittany Ouyang and Andrew O’Reilly met the traditional way: at a bar! “We were both ordering drinks and spotted an actor from Girls,” she recalls. "We started chatting, and the rest is history!" Four years later, the couple flew to Chamonix in the French Alps to unwind after a fashion week presentation Brittany had produced in Paris. “Andrew proposed in our Airbnb at the base of Mont Blanc. It was very low-key, and very us,” says the bride.
As evidenced by their proposal location, the couple loves to ski—so much that they frequently escaped New York City on snowy weekends for trips to Stowe, Vermont, while they were dating. “We decided to get married in Stowe so we could show my family, from San Francisco, and Andrew’s family, from Philadelphia, what we love so much about the mountains: the verdant landscape, farm-to-table cuisine, and friendly Vermonters," explains the bride. So on July 28, 2018, they invited 200 guests to join them at Topnotch Resort for a refined take on an organic celebration that was completely overflowing with flowers. “My mom always had fresh flowers in our house growing up, and I wanted that to really be a focal point of our design,” says Brittany. The couple worked with 42 North to create this totally lush celebration using shades of blush and mauve to contrast with the property’s natural greenery.
From the flowers to the fashion, this Vermont wedding—captured by Norman + Blake on photo and Lovebrain Films on video—is full of gorgeous #weddinginspo. Keep reading for more!

On the morning of the wedding, Brittany and her ‘maids got ready in matching pink robes, while enjoying the views as they had their hair and makeup done.

“I had so much fun dress shopping,” says Brittany, who went to Mark Ingram Atelier in New York City to find her gown. “I’m not afraid of a really dramatic, fashion-forward style, so I got to play with all the new designs, from high necks to gowns with pants.” The winning style was an ivory-and-nude hand-draped French tulle gown by Vera Wang. “I knew I didn’t want a veil, but the dramatic Watteau train on this dress still gave me that elegant look," she says.
The bride carried a bouquet of peonies, ranunculus, lisianthus, and foxtail lily.

Platform Miu Miu sandals were also a perfect choice for the outdoor setting. Because her gown had a high neckline, Brittany focused her attention to her elsewhere, accessorizing her John Anthony Jewelers engagement ring with her late grandmother’s sapphire and diamond ring.

Brittany’s bridesmaids all wore blush floor-length crepe gowns from Amsale and helped tend to the bride’s flowing train. The women all carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.

Andrew and his groomsmen wore navy suits from Indochino. “We didn’t want our wedding to be too formal," Brittany says. "A blue suit was both comfortable and elegant."

The two flower girls wore white smocked dresses with crowns of spray roses and greenery.

The outdoor ceremony took place overlooking a field of horses, where a lush aisle of petals led to an abundant floral altar covered in hydrangeas, roses, and peonies in shades of pink, peach, and purple.

The flower girls and ring bearer led the way before Brittany walked down the aisle with both of her parents. She and Andrew exchanged vows they’d written—something they decided to do very shortly after getting engaged. “Andrew is a journalist and writes for a living, so his vows were absolutely beautiful,” says the bride.
It had threatened to rain all weekend, but the clouds held off until the very end of the ceremony. “We shared a drizzly first kiss,” Brittany laughs. “We were so over the moon we didn’t realize we were a little bit soggy!”

Following the ceremony, guests followed a path lined with lanterns to the reception, where a display of lush blooms framed the acrylic table assignment sign.

“I wanted a grand reveal for the reception space,” says Brittany. “We fully draped the outside of the tent, then drew the drapes back to show the incredible floral installations inside.” Flowers overflowed everywhere you looked, from the ground surrounding the blonde wood bar to a circular installation dangling over the dance floor. Saturated tones of pink and purple contrasted beautifully against the lush greenery.
Tables were topped with white linens and candles in glass sleeves, surrounded by colorful centerpieces that combined calla lilies, roses, peonies, and anemones.

Brittany and Andrew danced to “Me and Magdalena” by The Monkees, then she and her father took a spin to “How Deep Is Your Love” by The BeeGees. “Our band, Sound House, was incredible,” says Brittany. “We danced the night away, and our guests demanded an encore!”

The couple cut into a four-tiered cake featuring layers of maple bourbon cream cake (as a nod to their Vermont setting). “We also had a dessert bar full of our favorites, like lemon tarts for Andrew and green tea mille feuilles from Lady M for me,” says the bride.

As dancing got going, Brittany changed into a fringed Naeem Khan minidress for the rest of the party. Looking back, she has this advice to share: “Have fun with every moment, and remember: This is a celebration of your love!”
