Who wouldn't be delighted by being surprised with a happy pink box of cupcakes on a Friday afternoon? Luckily for me and my entire staff, a very thoughtful and generous friend of mine decided to send me a little pick-me-up in the form of tasty treats from Georgetown Cupcake.
The card read: "Hopefully these will put a little smile on your face. I've always wanted to try them, so I expect a full report…." And my fellow editors and I got to reporting: Apple Cinnamon was declared the favorite (there was even talk of licking the wrapper.) PB Fudge came in second—and it was my personal fave for its gooey chocolate center and fluffy peanut butter frosting. Unfortunately, only one of us got to try the Chocolate3 (a Valrhona chocolate cupcake with a rich Callebaut chocolate ganache icing topped with french chocolate sprinkles)—it was so good that one editor couldn't bring himself to share. So we all shared the Chocolate2, which had rich, thick, fudgy icing (even our non-gluten-eating editor got involved with that one). There also was a unanimous vote for the Carrot cake, which we agreed was incredibly yummy and practically health food, since it included real shredded carrot bits.
Want some for yourself? All Georgetown Cupcake delivery orders are baked in small batches, frozen, and overnight shipped. That way, if you're hosting a bridal shower or engagement party (try the "Love Dozen" of red velvet cakes topped with fondant hearts), you can be sure this crowd-pleasing dessert will be there in time. Orders up to 10 dozen may be placed via website. Better still, company founders (and sisters) Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne also create custom cupcakes for weddings and other special occasions.
