Looking for your next Meghan Markle fix? According to The Telegraph, the Duchess of Sussex will be the theme of BBC Radio 4’s “15 Minute Musical” series in a piece titled, “The Sixth in Line to Be King and I.” And we can't wait.
The comedy piece will reportedly be “Rodgers and Hammerstein–inspired” and will have radio actors “look ahead to what promises to be an exciting 2019 for the happy royal couple as they expect their first child in the spring” and is "inspired celebration of Meghan Markle's life to date."
The musical is set to broadcast on New Year's Day, and will be performed by the program's usual cast of Pippa Evans (who will play the duchess), Dave Lamb, and Richie Webb. While Kensington Palace has not been consulted about the contents of the show, we expect it'll earn their stamp of approval. Prince Charles is an avid BBC listener, and is even going to be featured on the BBC Radio Christmas schedule. In a guest appearance on the show's Radio 3’s Private Passions, the Prince will discuss the musical moments that have had an impact on him throughout his life.
Fans of Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, Lifetime's biographical movie about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship leading up to the royal wedding, will likely also be fans of this production. But from the sound of it, this musical will be rooted in comedy—so the laughs won't just come from cringe-worthy dialogue like they did in the Lifetime movie.
It looks like we have our New Year's Day plans figured out!
