A Film Producer's Vibrant Estate Wedding in Napa Valley

Remember Geoff Stults as Ben Kinkirk on 7th Heaven? Welp, film producer Molly Heussenstamm, who's had a hand in flicks like La La Land and P.S. I Love You, has the actor to thank for her introduction to her new husband, Bron. A trip to a mutual friend's Nevada lake house in September 2016 laid the groundwork for the pair's inevitable romance, and a little over two years later, Bron quietly popped the question at the couple's West Hollywood home on a low-key Friday evening after work. To throw his bride off the trail, he initially gave her a necklace (accompanied by a bit of wine and cheese to lead up to the hype), but later pulled out all the stops with a ring and surprise cameo by Molly's Nashville-based siblings at dinner.

Don't let the innocuous proposal fool you, though—Molly and Bron tied the knot in an epically elegant Napa Valley ceremony on July 7, 2018. Incomparably fitting for the bride's profession, Molly describes the stunning venue of choice, a private estate in St. Helena, as "something out of a movie." "Once we saw it, we knew it was meant for us," she adds. "The manicured gardens and property are just gorgeous." And, after planning fell under way, the couple's wedding invitations actually inspired the overall vision for the vibrant, flower-filled big day itself. "I love, love color—and lots of it," Molly emphasizes.

Molly kicked the white wedding dress tradition to the curb and instead sought to showcase the wedding's overarching floral motif with her fashion choices. To accomplish that, she looked to Monique Lhuillier's ready-to-wear collection and selected a strapless evening-gown-turned-wedding-dress that kept up a romantic, florid appearance while still feeling classic. "When I saw it and the colorful flowers, I just knew it was so unique and exactly what I wanted," she says.

Molly later added a pink belt to her look at the reception, but namely accessorized with pink and green Manolo Blahnik heels, her mother's vintage diamond three-ring hoop earrings, and a bracelet inscribed with her late sister's initials.

Bron and Molly's wedding stationery (aka the design that started it all!) melded pink and purple hues with pretty blooms. "It was my favorite part, and so fun to have the bright, floral print everywhere," the bride adds of the invitation creation and ensuing pink and purple decor.

Bron's looked stayed timeless, with a black Zegna tuxedo that the pair picked out together. The groom's mother also gifted him his grandfather's cufflinks to sport down the aisle.

Given the bride's fashion choices, it only seemed natural for the bridal party to seek out equally bright frocks. Molly's sister helped create a mood board and collage of purple and metallic dresses (matching the invites, of course), then the girls were left to their own devices to choose gowns they loved. "It ended up being beautiful together, and totally complemented my dress," says Molly of the result.

The couple's florist rose to the occasion during the ceremony, adorning the beautifully natural scene with pink and purple blooms along the aisle.

"The actual wedding spot on the lake with the beautiful weeping willows reminds me of the South where I grew up," says the bride of the venue, where a live painter was on hand to memorialize the big day.

Customizing the nuptials, Bron and Molly opted for a blend of traditional and personal vows, with their beloved friend, Pastor Tim Bowers, officiating.

"Our big surprise for our guests was a personal touch for us to incorporate my love for Old Hollywood and musicals," adds the bride of another key ceremony highlight. The pair had vocalist Loren Allred, who sang "Never Enough" in The Greatest Showman film, fly in from New York to perform during the nuptials. "Everyone was absolutely captivated by her," Molly says. "It was the most special part of the day."

After the special ceremony, the couple explored the estate's grounds hand-in-hand as they relished in their newly-married bliss.

What would a Napa wedding be without—you guessed it—plenty of wine!? Instead of signature beverages, the newlyweds kicked off cocktail hour with their favorite vino.

Despite a 300-person guest list, a mix of square and long, rectangular tables at the reception maintained a feeling of intimacy.

The dinner menu honored the bride's Southern roots: shrimp and grits, biscuits, and beef tenderloin. Whoopie Pies also made an appearance for dessert with the funfetti-flavored wedding cake.

Staying true to the theme, the dance floor stole the show with a brightly decorated print. Although, after the bride and groom's first dance to "To Make You Feel My Love" by Adele, partygoers left hardly any room for visibility of the unique detail. Molly's nephew especially kicked the party into high gear with a special performance of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."

The bride's profession ushered plenty of A-list attendees to the wine country wedding, among them Hilary Swank and husband Philip Schneider, Vanessa and Nick Lachey, and Geoff Stults (the guy who started it all!).

Capping off the celebrations, a silent dance party ensued once the band's time was up. "The guests were all given headphones and Dart DJ played a silent disco, which ended up being such a fun and unique idea," Molly explains.

And, at the end of the day, no matter how much of a headache wedding planning may seem, Molly reminds all to-be-weds that the process should still feel fun. "[A wedding] should never be stressful," she says. "It's about celebrating your special day and love with your family and friends, so it should always be a happy thing to plan."
