If your Monday is the Monday-est of Mondays right now, then this is one viral love story you need to hear. Robert Holler, 84, and Doris Ladner, 89, from Diamondhead, Mississippi, may seem like they've been in love since the beginning of time, but they actually met at a place most wouldn't necessarily consider romantic—a retirement home. But to Holler, it was love at first sight.
And now, the octogenarians can call themselves husband and wife, thanks to an adorable ceremony put on by Woodland Village, the retirement home where the two first met. Holler and Ladner were surrounded by friends and family at their ceremony, never ceasing to let go of each other's hand the entire time. The wedding was officiated by Father Paddy Mockler, and there was (of course!) lots of cake and dancing by the time the reception rolled around.
Holly Ford, the administrator at Woodland Village, told WLOX that this is actually the first time two residents have gotten married on the property, making it that much more of a Notebook sort of love. She noted the "irony" of the situation, stating, "While many perceive nursing homes as end-of-life care, Ladner and Holler were able to find joy and love in each other's company and spend the rest of their lives together." The news site also added, "staff members at the nursing home say the couple are always holding hands, regardless of where they are" and that "Holler brings coffee to his love every morning when she wakes up." Aww!
This isn't the first time the pair has found love though, especially considering their age. Ladner had two previous marriages while Holler got hitched once before he said his current "I dos." Even so, it's hard to deny that this is their most special love yet.
