He’s off the market! Michael Clifford from 5 Seconds of Summer is officially an engaged man. The guitarist proposed to his long-time girlfriend Crystal Leigh on January 11.
“I was lucky enough to ask the love of my life to marry me in the place it all began for us,” Clifford wrote on Instagram, alongside three photos from the proposal. “In the last 3 years she has helped evolve and shape who I am in ways I could never have imagined. I couldn’t ask for anyone better to spend the rest of my life with. I love loving you, Crystal.”
In the first shot the musician shared, Clifford can be seen holding Leigh as she covers her face—with new bling on her ring finger—in sweet shock. The second slide shows the boy band member down on one knee with an epic pink and purple sunset behind them. The last photo shows the romantic setup Clifford prepared after he got that “yes!” response: The newly-engaged couple are seen cuddled up on a blanket surrounded by wine, cheese, and framed photos of the twosome. This pic gives a good shot of the engagement ring, which appears to be a dazzling oval solitaire diamond on a single-band setting.
According to E! News, the proposal took place at the Ungasan Clifftop Resort in Bali, which holds a lot of meaning for the couple. Not only did Clifford get down on one knee on their third anniversary, but he popped the question where the duo also had their first kiss. During the proposal the song “Medicine” by the 1975 played—the same song that played during their first kiss.
According to the Guess Twitter and Instagram accounts, Clifford and Leigh were in Bali for a sponsored #DestinationGuess trip, so they were able to celebrate with friends, including model Allison Harvard and NFL player Jordan Jenkins, after their special moment. They also reportedly enjoyed a meal cooked by Australian chef James Viles.
With a love story so tied to Bali, we hope there is a destination wedding in the near future for this couple. Congratulations!
