As editors, we get a whopping pile of kooky products that land on our desks daily. Of the bunch, we had to admit that when we heard the term “3D Scent”, we were intrigued. What high-tech, Star Wars-y like characteristics might this entail? Would we need 3D vision goggles? Would we be able to touch the remnants of our perfume floating around the air post-spray? Or might we smell a chocolate cake in front of our noses so decadent that we could essentially take a bite out of it? Our imaginations ran a bit wild, to say the least.
While our meeting with renowned perfumer Richard Herpin and his model-turned-Creative Director wife Geo (the creators of Precious Liquid fragrances) brought us down to Earth, we nonetheless fell in love with the idea of 3D Scent when we sat down to learn more.
The duo explained the trademarked concept: 3D Scent involves applying three high-quality, very concentrated, and different (yet complementary!) fragrances to three different “zones” of the body—the head (behind the ears, the side and back of the neck), the heart (the torso, by the chest and heart), and the hands (the wrist, the top of the hand, and/or the inner elbow of both arms).
Why is this necessary, especially for brides? Scientifically speaking, our sense of smell has become more or less desensitized as our sensitivity has increased throughout the years living in such sterile environments. This patent-pending technology allows us to adjust the overall scent on our bodies ourselves without becoming overly accustomed to the fragrance (and without no longer being able to smell how much you’re wearing!).
In other words? Don’t be the bride that keeps spraying her perfume over and over to “touch-up” during the day, only to be overwhelming everyone with how much you actually have on. With 3D Scent, you can softly and slowly adjust the scent, making it more of a “living” creation rather than something that eventually falls flat to your nose. And by having the different scents placed strategically over different parts of your body, your guests are catching an ever-changing whiff as you bust a move along the dance floor. So cool.
