This Maryland couple's wedding photos couldn't be any more purrfect thanks to their chubby kitty, Vito. The 35-pound tabby cat graced his adoptive parents' wedding pics—and effectively put the "cat" in "the cat's meow."
Vito, known in his previous home as Symba, was adopted by bride and groom Kiah Berkeley and Peter Sorkin after he became famous for his rather large figure on national news channels, according to an ABC News article. The "tubby tabby" was surrendered to the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, D.C., after his owner found out he couldn't bring him to the retirement home he was moving into.
Since Vito was already a major part of their family, Berkeley and Sorkin decided it wouldn't be fair to leave him out of their big-day shoot. So, a week after their July 8 wedding, they grabbed their photographer, Kristi Odom, and made him into a national sensation once again.
"We wished that we could've included him in our wedding because everybody loves him and would've thought it was hilarious, but we got married two hours away," the bride told ABC News. "We love the pictures. As soon as we get the raw images back from [the photographer], we are going to blow a bunch up and hang them on the wall."
And while Vito's curves may have won him Internet stardom, his new parents are a little concerned about what those extra pounds may do to his health. So to be proactive about their feline housemate, they've decided to place him on a diet plan (which Berkeley has already seen success with!). You can follow his weight-loss journey, and some extra cute videos of him, via his Facebook account, called Symba the Tubby Tabby.
