If you’re looking to honeymoon somewhere picture-perfect, Pinterest has a few ideas. The platform recently released its 2017 travel trends report, revealing the year’s most popular travel destinations for all different kinds of travelers. So whether you’re hoping to vacation in a place that celebrates wellness, serves up amazing food, or is known for all-night parties, Pinterest has you covered.
For those looking for some mind or body wellness after all that wedding planning, Pinterest says searches for yoga retreats, fitness travel, meditation retreats, thermal baths, and forest bathing are up this year. If you’re wondering what forest bathing is, it’s not taking a bath in the middle of a forest—it’s simply “spending time outdoors unplugged” (a.k.a. a digital detox), says Pinterest.
Heads up to all the foodies out there: Pinterest says the most popular searches among foodies are for Nashville hot chicken, third wave coffee shops, Cuban food, London’s Borough Market, Aperol spritzes (a Prosecco-based summer cocktail), and shakshuka, a Middle Eastern tomato-based breakfast dish.
Want your honeymoon to be an extension of your wedding? Popular searches in terms of party-themed vacations are for group travel (for those bold honeymooners looking to bring friends along), Thailand, Midsummer (a traditional Swedish holiday celebrating the summer solstice), and Carnaval in Brazil.
Meanwhile, for the thrill seekers, Pinterest says the most-searched adventurous destinations include Iceland’s natural wonders, ghost towns, swimming holes, adult summer camp, and van life.
In a release obtained by Brides, Pinterest explained how it came up with these travel trends. “The Pinsights team took a look at what people are saving and searching for when it comes to how they’ll spend their time on vacation, based on insights from 175+ million monthly global Pinners and more than 3 billion travel Pins,” the release said. Pinterest also explained that how you choose to fill your vacation is just as important as choosing the destination. “Travel is one of our top 10 categories with over 3 billion ideas, but travel goes beyond just the destination,” the report reads. “What people are doing on their trip—eating, drinking, wearing, shopping—is just as important as where they’re going.”
