Simone Biles officially became “Mrs. Owens” when she married Jonathan Owens at a courthouse ceremony in Texas on April 22, 2023, but the wedding festivities are just getting started for the newlyweds. The following day, the Olympic gymnast told her followers in an Instagram Story Q&A session that the couple is planning another celebration. “We will be having a wedding in a couple of weeks,” the Olympic gold medalist told her fans. “We had to get married ‘legally’ here in the U.S. since our wedding will be a destination wedding.” While Biles didn’t disclose the exact location of their upcoming soirée, she did share that some of her guests are waiting on their passports, so it’s likely that they’ll say “I do” in an international country.

According to the athlete, their second wedding will be another fashion-forward affair. During the Q&A segment, a follower asked how many wedding dresses the bride plans on wearing. In response, Biles revealed that she has picked out four wedding dresses for the event. “Kind of dramatic, but you only have a wedding day once,” she explained. Even though the couple already got married, their courthouse wedding was an intimate affair without a guest list or a reception. Since its purpose was to make their marriage legal, this destination wedding is the couple’s chance to truly celebrate with all of their friends and family, including multiple outfit changes.

In addition to revealing details about her wedding wardrobe, Biles also gave her followers a sneak peak into the rest of the day. According to the gymnast, the couple selected a color scheme of champagne, gold, and white for the upcoming wedding. For the décor, Biles admitted that she and her NFL star husband went a little overboard, revealing that their flowers were the most expensive item. “We went so over budget that we decided there is no longer a budget,” she joked.

She also said eight bridesmaids and seven groomsmen will stand by their side at the altar, while 140 guests will witness their vow exchange. In an attempt to make the guest list as intimate as possible, the bride-to-be said she won’t give her friends and family plus ones. “I know this is controversial, but I’m always meeting people on a day-to-day basis, and I love that,” she explained. “But on my wedding day, I didn’t want to meet any new people.”

Biles added that she and Owens will be writing their own vows. “Idk how I’m supposed to get through it,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “I was so teary [and] choked up at the courthouse ceremony, [and] it was just basic vows.” Following the larger ceremony and reception, the newlyweds will jet off to their minimoon, followed up a traditional honeymoon, according to the Olympic athlete. “We are thinking Bora Bora,” she noted. Since football season will be starting again soon, she explained that they’re planning on waiting a little before their vacation.

For her courthouse ceremony, Biles stunned in a Selfie Leslie dress featuring ruffled tiers, while Owens sported a beige suite with white loafers. The gymnast revealed that she bought her attire the week of their wedding, including her $120 gown. “Not quite [as] prepared for the courthouse ceremony as I am for the big wedding,” she admitted. On her Instagram Story, the new wife shared that she bought her wedding shoes and wedding bands on Amazon. “We are saving our actual wedding bands for the big day,” she wrote on the slide.

The newly married couple announced that they had tied the knot on Instagram on April 22, 2023. “I do 🤍 officially owens 🤍,” she captioned her post alongside wedding photos captured by RaeTay Photography. Owens also dedicated a post to the exciting news, complete with the caption, "My person, forever ❤️💍 #TheOwens #itsofficial." According to her social media platform, Biles said her sister, Adria, showed up to the courthouse late, so she missed the entire service. “Granted it was quick, but still,” Biles shared. “Typical Adria.”
