Selena Gomez Threw Herself a Wedding-Themed 30th Birthday Party

Selena Gomez marked a new decade in an unconventional way—by throwing a wedding for herself. In a cover story interview for Rolling Stone, which was published on November 3, 2022, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer revealed that she celebrated her 30th birthday by hosting a wedding-themed celebration. “I thought I would be married by now, so I threw myself a wedding,” she told the publication. 

The pop singer held the festivities over the summer of 2022, and the party was said to have been a star-studded affair. According to Rolling Stone, Gomez invited anyone who played a pivotal role in her 20s, regardless of whether they were close friends. Her guest list is said to have included A-listers like Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Francia Raísa, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, and Cara Delevingne.

The “Look at Her Now” artist went on to explain some of the details that went into the celebration, but she admitted that not everything was typical of a nuptial ceremony and reception. “We had lovely drinks, and it was beautiful,” she said. “Then, my friend Cara [Delevingne] comes in and brings strippers. So, I would like to say it was a mixture of sophisticated and hysterical.”

On July 25, 2022, the musician reflected on the previous decade after she turned 30 by sharing a heartfelt Instagram post. “My twenties were a journey through good, hard, and beautiful moments that I will never forget,” she captioned a series of black-and-white portraits. “Each of them has shaped me into the person that I am today. I am someone who is still learning but is more certain about what matters and what she wants. Someone who is grateful for every single gift and every single lesson along the way.”

The Rare Beauty founder also explained that her strong support system served as a source of empowerment in her 20s and revealed that she will strive to become the best version of herself going forward. 

She wrapped up the post by talking about how celebrating her big day has been a huge source of joy and gratitude in this new phase of life. “I can say that I’m starting to really like 30,” she wrote. “Thank you SO much for being a part of my life. Here’s to another decade! Love you all inside and out so much it hurts!”
