As if we couldn't love Ruth Bader Ginsburg anymore (she's been an iconic United States Supreme Court Justice since 1993), she gave Jennifer Lopez marriage advice that all engaged couples and newlyweds need to hear.
While appearing on Good Morning America to promote her new movie Hustlers, Lopez revealed she was in Washington D.C. during her "It's My Party" tour with fiancé Alex Rodriguez when she met the justice. During their candid conversation, she asked Ginsburg, "What's the secret?" She responded with, "Sometimes it just helps to be a little bit deaf—if you hear an unkind word, let it go." Lopez called the advice "super wise."
The star's fascination with Ginsburg actually has a unique tie to her own engagement to Rodriguez. As a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, Lopez shared that both her and A-Rod watched Ginsburg's documentary, RBG, the same weekend he proposed.
"We just happened to watch her documentary, and it was fascinating to me. First of all, she's an amazing woman. Has been fighting laws and justice for so many years, in our country for women, for the minorities, for the underprivileged," Lopez told Fallon. "And she also had this amazing marriage to Marty, who was a tax attorney. I'm telling you the whole thing! But basically, when I went on tour and we were in Washington, I was like, 'I'd love to meet her.'"
Lopez even invited Ginsburg to her concert, to which the judge jokingly replied, "It's a little bit late for me."
Ginsburg was happily married to Marty Ginsburg for over 50 years before he passed away in 2010, so there's no doubt she knows a thing or two about marriage. And with this advice, we hope J. Lo and A-Rod will have a strong marriage, too!
