A Romantic Baltimore Wedding in a Historic Industrial Building

Matt and Dallas Robinson’s story is a classic tale of love and football. The two originally met through mutual friends at the University of Maryland in 2012. It just so happens that Matt was playing football at their alma mater, while Dallas was on the cheerleading team. When Matt got down on one knee and popped the question in 2020 during a romantic trip to Anna Maria Island—complete with a surprise celebration with all their family and friends—they didn’t have to think too long about their dream venue.

“We fell in love with the Winslow immediately,” the bride says of the industrial event space, noting that they didn’t even look at another venue. “At the time of the tour, Matt was working [as a coach] for the University of Maryland with hopes to be working for the Ravens. COVID-19 had ruined his first opportunity with the team. When we left the Winslow, we looked at each other and said, ‘How cool would it be if you're working for the Ravens on the wedding day?’ And, it happened!”

For their May 28, 2022 nuptials, Dallas had a “very romantic, modern vision” for the big day. With the help of her inner circle, she was able to turn her dream wedding into a reality—no planner required. “Planning, for me, was one of the best things ever,” the bride shares. “It allowed my relationship with my mom and sister to flourish.”

With lush flowers, special moments at the stadium, and a TikTok-worthy entrance, the special day was nothing short of a matrimonial touchdown. Read on for an intimate look at the day, as photographed by Emily Gude Photo.

For their special day, Dallas and Matt opted for a clean, minimalist palette. “The venue itself was already beautiful and industrial, so I knew I did not want to take too much away from it.” The event was kicked off just right with a neutral invitation suite, courtesy of Minted.

The bride spent the morning getting glam with her bridesmaids. “I wanted to look like an upgraded version of myself,” she shares. “I don't normally wear a lot of makeup day to day, so it was important to me to make sure I didn't look like a different person on my wedding day.” Fortunately, Sadetra Windham and Brianna Perea delivered excellent hair and makeup, respectively. 

Dallas dazzled in a crepe gown from  Hayley Paige, complete with a sweetheart neckline and tulle skirt. “I knew it was the one because I finally felt like a bride,” she recalls. “While I loved the other dresses, I felt like they could be worn to another event if they were a different color. [This one] felt like exactly what I should be wearing on my wedding day.” Completing the look was jewelry from Untamed Petals, Harlo Australia shoes, and a veil Dallas borrowed from her sister.

Meanwhile, the groom suited up in a custom Indochino tuxedo complete with a white jacket with black lapels and black pants. Christian Louboutin loafers, gold cufflinks, and a black Movado watch he received from his mother-in-law rounded off the look in style. The Raven's coach took his groomsmen to the stadium to suit up for the big day.

Matt and his wedding party tossed around a football before he executed the play of his life: Marriage. “Probably one of Matt's only requests that we were not doing a first look,” Dallas explains.

The minimalist ceremony area was spruced up with two large floral secures, as well as white blooms and candles lining the aisle. “We wanted something simple and light because the dark, moody vibes were going to be there for the reception,” the bride notes. “We chose to have our bridal party sit during the ceremony. We just wanted it to be just us at the altar, with no distractions.”

Dallas glided down the aisle to Kina Grannis’ rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with her older brother, Perry, in tow. “We lost our dad in 2018, and I knew Perry would be the one walking me down the aisle," the bride shares. “To be honest, I was looking forward to it. It felt like it was his first ‘big brother’ moment since we lost [our] dad.” 

Once the couple recited their personal vows and listened to a reading of Cheryl Barclay’s “The One,” they sealed their union with a kiss and recessed down the aisle to Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”

Groomsmen looked sharp in tuxedos rented from The Black Tux, while the bridesmaids donned dark tan dresses from Fame and Partners. “I chose this color because I wanted something different than black that would look amazing on every skin tone at my wedding,” the bride recalls. “It was seriously beautiful on every single one of them.”

Guests eventually headed to the reception area, which was swathed in black linens, gold flatware, and plenty of candlelights. Bistro lights, lush greenery, and a neon sign that said “The Robinsons” got the space party-ready.

Copper Kitchen delivered with a mouth-watering menu of braised short rib and Icelandic cod, with sides of fingerling potatoes and hearty greens.

At cocktail hour, guests could sip on a Kash-a-Rita. “As an ode to our favorite puppy and our favorite drink,” the couple explains.

“Our favorite part of cocktail hour was the oyster bar,” the bride recalls. “We really love oysters and wanted to accentuate the Maryland vibe of the wedding. We also served mini Maryland crab cakes.”

Before the reception, the couple snuck away to capture some sweet portraits moments with Emily Gude Photo. Rooftop shots were made even more memorable with the M&T Bank Stadium right next door.

Dallas and Matt kicked off the party with a viral grand entrance. “We came out to ‘Congratulations’ by Post Malone and it has 2-million views on TikTok right now,” the bride shares. “We practiced it just once in our apartment before the wedding, but it did not compare to what it was on the day of.“

From there, the couple shared their first dance to “Slow Cooker” by John Legend. “Being together for 10 years,  there was a lot of pressure to always rush into the next step of our relationship,” the bride shares. “In the song, John Legend talks about how love is worth waiting for, and that couldn't be more true for Matt and [me].”

Craving something sweet? In addition to a confetti cake from Copper Kitchen, guests could snack on churros and with a tres leches sauce. 

DJ Chris Styles kept the party going with a beat-busting setlist. “We knew him from both of us coaching at the University of Maryland, so it was fun to have someone who knew both of us be such a huge part of our wedding,” the bride adds.

Dallas slipped into a short, lace number from For Love & Lemons, and the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Robinson danced the night away as husband and wife.

When asked about the Super Bowl-worthy wedding, Dallas and Matt’s advice is simple: Put you and your spouse’s needs first. “This is your day, and nothing else matters except that you're marrying the love of your life so do what you both want and what will make you happy,” they share.
